TITLE: Law of evidence in ancient India

Abstract: The law of evidence encompasses the rules and legal
principles that govern the proof or facts in a legal proceeding.
These rules determine what evidence must or must not be
considered by the trier of fact in reaching its decision.

The law of evidence in ancient India consisted of provisions for:

1. Means of Proof
2. Facts pleaded to be proved with relevant facts by the
concerned party.
3. Proving of charge by circumstantial evidence
4. Caution regarding accepting circumstantial evidence
5. Classification of Pramana
6. Order of preference
7. Ordeal excluded where human evidence is possible
8. When documentary evidence alone is permissible
9. Documentary evidence
10. Oral evidence
11. Special rules of evidence regarding easements

I would research more on the Law of evidence of

Ancient India and would try to show in my project
how the laws were implemented and how is it
different from the current laws.
