EKLEKTOS: Boses ng Tadhana

IN TIMES OF HOPELESSNESS, BELIEVE

For many hopeless people, suicide is their way to run from this unfair world. BulSU

Performatura presents “EKLEKTOS: Boses ng Tadhana” which delivers an alarming perspective

about the life of hopeless people, mostly youths. Production team takes the audience into the real

world of depressed individuals and the events that have led them to their journey of experiencing

the cruel world of ours and to have deep understanding about the issue. This production is eye-

opener and successful at bringing awareness to its viewers/audience because of the real life

scenarios, tone and word choice, clearness and well explained dilemma of this generation.

One of the ways that “EKLEKTOS: Boses ng Tadhana” is eye-opener to its audience is by

bringing in the real element. Buhay is the one who sees beauty in living, but she said, “Tunay

ngang ang buhay ay hindi palaging masaya, at ang lahat ay may hangganan din…” Not all rich

people are really the happiest people just because they could get everything they need, some of

them are suffering from depression. Kamatayan, the one who wanted to rush and control

everything just because of her selfishness. “Tila hindi ko na makita ang ganda ni Buhay, si

Kamatayan ay nais ko nang masilayan…” Tao’s situation is described as “in depression for years,

committing suicide as an easiest way to ease the pain that they are experiencing right in that

moment.” He can described his life as “it is like a prison” a prisoner of his own negative thoughts

and experiences. Those real life dialogs bring an emotional hook to the viewers.

Throughout the entire play, main characters’ tone and facial expression is really visible.

You will feel every scene they act, and every song they sing. You’ll hear about the issue and the

facts that support it. The language used attracts a wide audience because it is real and some of it

has humor. Teenagers and youth would be able comprehend this play easily, since the word choice

is not that deep and to the point.

The whole production team doesn’t appear to be a one-sided story, rather they showed and

implied both point of view of the three main characters – Tao, Buhay and Kamatayan. You can

definitely tell they wanted to bring awareness to the depressed and hopeless people in our country

especially to all of the students of Bulacan State University. BulSU Performatura makes sure that

the lines/dialogs will bring deep understanding about the issue.

Unlike other performance or play, BulSU Performatura does an excellent job of keeping

scenarios accurate and to the point. When watching the play, no assumptions are made, everything

is either true, commonly known saying, or direct quotes from any other resources, and experts on

the subject. This actors and actresses eager to prove that the country is entering the next generation

that has higher percentage of suicide.

BulSU Performatura presents “EKLEKTOS: Boses ng Tadhana” is a play or musical play

that brings awareness to the depressed and at the same time hopeless students of Bulacan State

University. This issue is really an eye-opener because of the real life dialogs and elements and this

dilemma is very timely and deliver the problem of the hopeless people to greater light.
