Sexual related problems

PREMARITAL
Premarital sex can refer to more than one sex occasion of sexual activity or more than
one sex partner. Social attitudes to premarital sex have changed over time as has the
prevalence of premarital sex in various societies.
EARLY PREGNANCY

Those young females have not yet reached adulthood and the causes of early
pregnancy vary greatly. An early pregnancy may be linked to things such as lack of
education and information about reproduction to peer pressure and early engagement of
sexual activity. Those young females often do not complete their education and they begin
a perpetual cycle in which their child may further go on to become a teenage parents as
well. (UNICEF. Org, April 8 2016).

In the Philippines, the National Youth Commission (NYC) as cited by Sun Star
Cagayan de Oro (2012) said. That the rate of teenage pregnancy in the Philippines has
reached alarming proportions, having increased 70% over the past years, from 14,205 in
1999 to 195,662 in 2009. Furthermore, the annual report of the United Nations
Population funds in 2011 at 53 births per 1,000 women aged between 15 and 19, the
teenage pregnancy rate in the Philippines is the highest among Asian’s six major
economies…” Furthermore, the National Statistics Office, as cited by de la Cruz in 2009,
presented figures in which 26.7% of women who give birth to their first child in 2010 are
15 to 19 years old(Philippine News Agency, 2012).

STIs and HIV/AIDS

In the Philippines year in 2017 with the 3,147 percent surge 2007, according to an Al
Jazeera analysis of the latest data published by the country’s health agency, bucking a
downward trend worldwide.(Al Jazeera.com/news/2018).

Manila Philippines with more than one million individuals’ construction sexual
transmitted infection (STI) every day, the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION(WHO)
has reported that the diseases remains a persistent and endemic health threat across the
globe.(https:www.philstar.com).

This case make virus weakens a person’s ability to fight infection and cancer. People
with have Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). When the virus makes them
very sick and they develop certain infection or cancer (published by WebMD, Sept 12
2018).
2.1.2 IMPORTANCE OF STUDENTS AWARENESS

Among the youth has been the central focus of a number of previous studies source of
the information were analyzed in the different societies. School, media, peers discussion
with the parents etc., are the most sexual sex education can reach teenagers through many
different ways, one of which is through schools. The government can make it compulsory
for school students to undergo at least a certain number of hours of premarital sex.

The construction of issues relating to human sexuality, including emotional relations

and responsibilities, human sexual anatomy, sexual activity, sexual reproduction, age of
consents, reproductive health, reproductive rights, safe sex, birth control and sexual

Home Economics, Biology, Social Studies, English and Literature, and Family Relations
or Human Relations classes.

2.2 THEORETICAL LENS

According to the Carballo, (1991), Abraham Marlow on his theory of psychosexual,

postulates that people tend to choice what they need than they want thus putting a basis
physiological need, which unless satisfied (together with the other physiological needs
such as air, food and water), human will remains at that basic level seeking gratification.
Sexual satisfaction at tender age may result into adolescent pregnancy whose rate is 6.5%
worldwide and 10% in Sub Saharan Africa (WHO, 2008). Early pregnancy is a serious
problem of societal development. (Int. Political. Red. 114).
CHAPTER III
Methodology

This chapter presents the method in this qualitative research. This includes the
research design, role of the researcher, research participants, and the data collection. This
chapter will also explore the issue on trustworthiness which included credibility,
confirmability, transferability, dependability, ethical consideration.

Research Design
This research will employ an Focus group discussion qualitative method utilizing
structured interview. This method will be used at describing the data in words or making
interpretation on the results.

A qualitative study is defined as an inquiry process of understanding a social or

human problem, based on building a complex, holistic picture, formed with words,
reporting detailed views of informants, and conducted in a natural setting (Cress well,
1994 ).

Role of the Researchers

In the academic undertaking, role of the researcher in the qualitative process
included as data gatherer, transcriber, translator, encoder, and analyst of the answers of
the participants of the study.

Research Materials
The materials of the study will be questionnaires of the 1 participants of the focus
group discussion of the selected students and there are:

1. What is student’s awareness in premarital sex?

Data Collection and Analysis

In collecting the needed data of this study, there will be 2 questions to be asked to
the selected participants that will be transcribed with the criteria set. Answer of the
participants will serve as the data of the study. The researcher will follow the steps in
transcribing the answer of the participants.

Trustworthiness
Gay, Mills and Airasian (2006) revealed that researchers can establish the
trustworthiness of their research studies and finding addressing all Lincoln and Guba‘s
(1985) criteria for validity, namely, credibility, transferability, dependability and
confirmability. Gay, Mills and Airasian (2006) defined credibility as the ability of the
researcher to take into account all of the complexities that present themselves in a study
and to deal with patterns that are not easily explained.

Ethical Consideration
The researcher will follow the specific research guidelines mandated by Cotabato
City National High school Rojas site.
