Preparation of 3% CLiQFLOW 615 pre-gel

• add 3% CLIQFLOW 615 to de-ionised water (15-30°C; higher

temperatures may speed-up the gelling process) while mixing at
low speed with high speed dissolver
• maintain vortex while increasing shear during dispersion time of
15-20 minutes
• depending on the water temperature the gel may take a few hours
(over night) to develop its full structure
• after final dispersion a clear colourless gel should appear which
can be added to the final system while mixing in sufficiently

CLiQSMART 111

vegatable oil / polymeric

defoamer

© 2017 CLiQ SwissTech

CLiQSMART 111

• highly efficient multi-purpose defoamer

• particularly recommended for mid-to-high PVC
• mineral oil-free
• silicone-free
• meets TÜV VOC-requirements

• easy to incorporate in higher pvc systems

• excellent storage stability
• long term defoaming efficiency
• reduces processing as well as application foam

© 2017 CLiQ SwissTech

Sample overview

The defoamers are tested in 50% pvc paints based on

different binder systems:

Mowilith LDM 1871 – vinyl acetate ethylene binder

Mowilith LDM 7411 – pure acrylic binder
Orgal P 056V – styrene acrylic binder

The efficiency of the defoamers is based on the density

after mixing. Higher density of the sample indicates more
efficient de-foaming effect by the defoamer.

Conclusion

Overall test results suggest that CLiQSMART 111 performs similarly to

the competitive material (Lopon E 81) in various binder systems.

This is true before and after storage stability testing for 8 weeks @
40°C.

CLiQSMART EP FS-1
(LP 1601-1)

Formaldehyde Scavenger
for Paints and Construction
Material
commercial amounts available

© 2017 CLiQ SwissTech

Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde (O=CH2), a very volatile organic component that is

classified as carcinogenic 1B

Although formaldehyde emission as been reduced significantly over

the last years it may be released from many products like,

Wood (panels based on MDF, Chipboards)

Textile
Coatings & Paints
Wall papers
Plasters
etc..

To meet todays requirements for building products, e.g. French

VOV, EU Eco Label, Blue Angel etc… a very low formaldehyde level
is required

© 2017 CLiQ SwissTech

Requirements

Formaldehyde indoor emission level requirements, e.g.

French directive
Class A + < 10 µg/m3
Class A < 60 µg/m3
Class B < 120 µg/m3

EU ECO Label < 50 µg/m3

Blauer Engel < 60 µg/m3

CLiQSMART EP FS-1

- Formaldehyde scavenger
- environmentally friendly
- 50% active, VOC-free
- easy-to-use low viscous liquid
- proven technology
- reacts rapidly with formaldehyde
- forms a stable, non-volatile compound already at room temperature

Function

The chemical reaction of CLIQSMART EP FS-1

with formaldehyde follows,

N-H + O=CH2 N-CH2-OH

CLiQSMART Formaldehyde non-volatile

LP 1601-1 stable compound

1 g of the CLiQSMART EP FS-1 can covalently bind

approximately 155 -160 mg formaldehyde.

Applications

Three reasons to use CLiQSMART EP FS-1 as

formaldehyde scavenger

1. reduces formaldehyde emission from resins/formulated systems, e.g

• waterborne coatings
• textile coatings
• wood protection
• adhesives, etc…

2. reduces formaldehyde emission from substrates

3. absorbs formaldehyde from surrounding environment / indoor air

Application Example
Atmosphere Purifying Wallpaint (APP) - a matt/flat finish wall paint
designed to absorb from underlying surfaces and also from the
atmosphere in the painted room.

MDF Passivating Primer (MDFP) - a base-coat/primer for man-made

or remanufactured wood type products (like MDF and ply) which
typically off-gas formaldehyde and other VOCs.

Anti-Formaldehyde Radiator (AFR) Paint - new hot water radiators

can off-gas formaldehyde for many months (sometimes as long as two
years). AFR traps this before it can enter the atmosphere.

MDFP and AFR are remedial solutions for particular situations. APP is
very commonly used over existing paints, or in spaces with new
carpets or furnishings that are off-gassing. It is frequently applied to a
ceiling (being a matt finish it looks like any other wall/ceiling paint) in
cases where other items in the room are the cause of the problem.
