Table of Contents
• INTRODUCTION
The objective of this method statement is to establish the necessary guidelines for
installation and commissioning of UV Sterilizer, in accordance with the specification
requirements. This method statements aims to ensure that the quality assurance and
quality control activities are conducted in a systematic manner, works are inspected, and
conformance is verified and documented.
• SCOPE
The purpose of this method statement is to explain step by step method to implement the
correct practices for installation and commissioning of "UV Sterilizer" through the
guidelines contained herein so as to ensure that the job execution complies with the
project requirements and serves the intended function to satisfactory level.
• MATERIALS
• UV STERILIZER (MODEL: U300B)
• DIMENSION
• Weight of 01 UV Sterilizer
• Working UV lamps should not be looked with naked eye. If there is a need to
remove the lamps, the electricity circuit should be switched off first. Otherwise the
UV beam might give serious damage to eyes. UV unit should not be interrupted
during operation;
• First the power supply should be switched off,
• The pressured water in the device should be evacuated using the by-pass line,
• The device shall be interrupted after the procedures defined in the first two steps
above were performed.
• Pre-Installation Check
• Ensure that materials are available to carry out the work.
• Establish an efficient installation method.
• Prior to commencement of work, areas and access will be inspected to confirm that
site is safe and ready to commerce work.
• All relevant documentation and materials applicable to particular section of works
will be checked.
• Method of Installation:
• Assembly Instructions
• UV unit should be mounted on a flat surface with full hygiene. The maintenance works
related to the device should be realized in a suitable and comfortable environment. –Fig. 1
• A clearance enabling the easy replacement of the lamps and quartz covers should be left on
the top of UVC unit. This clearance should be a little bit longer than the quartz cover.
• To avoid water cut offs during the UVC unit maintenance works, UVC unit by-pass circuit
must be taken into operation.
• UV control unit should be mounted in a place that is near to the power unit but not in
contact with water.
• There are no specific input-output directions inside the UVC unit. You can make the input
and output connections as you like in compliance with the piping installation.
• In the multi lamp units, the *’5f” bottom connection enables the water to be discharged
from the collector during maintenance works. –Fig. 2
• The precautions required while fixing the input output connection lines of the UV units and
do it firmly. Otherwise cover and the lamps might repeatedly be broken.

• Remove the cover stopper after the completion of the device assembly,
• The covers should be placed as shown in the figure and match the bottom fork firmly –Fig. 1
• Place the cover gasket –Fig. 2
• Mount the cover stopper and fix it firmly as much as you can manually. (Do not use any
tools for this work). –Fig. 3
• Please repeat the same process for all covers.
• After these steps, check the leak proofness by giving water inside the system before
mounting the lamps.
• Lamp Mounting
1 2 3 4
• Take the lamps out their package. Do not touch on the glass parts or use gloves.
• Check if there is a spring inside the cover before assembling the lamp.
• Locate carefully by taking it inside the cover stopper.
• Remove the top record inside the lamp stopper, unplug the cable and plug the four-pin lamp
connection to the lamp.
• Fix the lamp cover to its own place and tighten the cable record. Apply to all the lamps.
• Fix the lamp cables to the collector via the cable holder and connect the grounding to the
collector.
• Check all connections, turn the water on and check if there is a leakage again. When you are
sure that there is no leakage, you can energize the control panel.
• Check if all the LED’s on the control panel for each lamp are green.
• Your UV unit is taken into operation successfully.

Date Issued:
UV STERILIZER
12-June-2019
A) Safety Lighting
• Adequate lighting to be provided to work location.
• All the electrical accessories will be of industrial type
• All the cables will be concealed / above head.
▪ Task lighting
o Connected cables to be secured / tied properly to avoid trip hazards.
o In addition to the fixed lightings, Portable lights will be on standby.
o All electrical fittings used will conform to industrial standards
C) EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
Requirement of the Project Emergency Preparedness and Response plan shall be strictly followed.
• In the event of an accident, contact the area HSE Supervisor.
• In case of Diesel Spillage contact the Environmental department.
• Easy means of access will be available at all time.
• Contact numbers of all emergency supervisors will be distributed to site personnel (Site
engineer, Safety officer, male nurse and concerned authorities and emergency services).
• Injuries will have the highest priority to be directly dealt with at once.
• There are different types of situations that we need to consider under this section. These are:
• Basic first aid
• Medical
• Property damage
• Environmental releases
• Fatality
• Fire
• Site nurse
• Safety Engineer/Officer
• Site Superintendent/Foreman
• 4no of operatives
• Basic first aids
• The injured person, if mobile, can make his way to the site clinic for treatment by a
qualified site nurse that is available and logged in the first aid register.
• Medical
• Under this section, there are two categories that we need to consider. They are as follows:
(1)- Conscious
If the patient is feeling un-well, he will immediately inform his supervisor and go to the
site clinic to be assessed by the site nurse. The site nurse will then advise, or the patient will
require further examination and he will be taken to the hospital.
(2)- Unconscious
If the patient had collapsed during his work, alarm must be raised to inform the response team.
The team will then respond accordingly by the quickest possible way arriving at the location of the
incident. Along with them, they will bring a first aid kit, an emergency stretcher and an
emergency vehicle. Once they are on the scene, the site nurse will assess the patient and the team
will then take the patient on the stretcher either to the site clinic or to the local hospital.
• Electrocution
If you see someone lying unconscious or “froze on the circuit,” the very first thing to do is shut
off the power by opening the appropriate disconnect switch or circuit breaker. Don’t touch
another person being shocked, If the power disconnect switch cannot be located quickly
enough, it may be possible to dislodge the victim from the circuit they’re frozen on to by
prying them or hitting them away with a dry wooden board or piece of nonmetallic conduit.
Once the victim has been safely disconnected from the source of electric power, the immediate
medical concerns for the victim should be respiration and circulation (breathing and pulse).
Call nearest First aider to apply first aid to the electrocuted person. If a victim is still conscious
after having been shocked, they need to be closely monitored and cared for until male nurse
arrives.
• ENVIRONMENTAL
• Working areas will be kept free as practicable from construction debris and equipment’s
which are not actually in use. Proper access to the work areas should be maintained all the
time. Particular attention to be paid to environmental hazards such as excessive dust
emission, excessive noise from equipment, unpleasant odor of material or chemical to be
used, etc. Hence a corresponding control measure will be performed as below mentioned
but not limited on it:
• Water spraying for dust control
• Noise level monitoring
• Complied with the materials safety data sheet recommendation regarding environmental
aspect/impact of the material to be used.
