Blood is pumped from the right ventricle through the pulmonary trunk to the lungs, and from the left ventricle through the aorta to the rest of the body. Major blood vessels associated with the heart include the pulmonary and coronary arteries, superior and inferior vena cavas, and brachiocephalic veins.
