WORKSHEET 1

A. Read the passage below and answer the questions that follow.

Tasik Kenyir is the largest man-made lake in South-East Asia. It is over 260,000 hectares. It was created
in 1985 when a dam was built in the Kenyir River. The lake contains about 340 islands, which were once
hilltops and highlands, and 14 waterfalls. It is located in Hulu Terengganu and can be reached through
its main entrance just after the town of Kuala Berang.

Since the lake is a reservoir, its water level can vary depending on the month. The lake is most
beautiful when the water level is the highest. This occurs at the end of the rainy season in March or
April.

Visitors to the lake can stay in resort chalets or floating longhouses which are built on the lake.
