REFLECTION PAPER

Some would say that change is inevitable and it is true even in business. The first overarching
sources of change is globalization. It has taken its place in developing business especially its
management. As time passes by, companies are getting more competitive, and so the demand
for a competitive leader who is effective and efficient becomes prevalent. If one would look into
the comparison on the qualities of a manager before and at present, he/she will notice that
managers before seem to have a “negative” qualities like being monocultural and superior.
While at present, managers seem to develop an attitude of cooperation and being multicultural.
Like what Kreitner has mentioned, a model manager is one who can confidently go along with
the other business leaders of the world.

Second, in business it is right to give more importance on product and service quality because it
is what connects the company with its clients. The evolution of product quality talks about how
managers have shifted their focus on cooperatively working together on how they would prevent
future product quality problems and how they would meet the client’s satisfaction rather than
only fixing product deficiency.

Third, in order to maintain the sustainable development that the world requires, it is just to give
equal importance to the environment. Environmentalism paved its way in going beyond the
focus of “profit”. It presents the idea that preserving the nature is significant in achieving the
desired progress or development. With this, managers of today are challenged to produce
innovatively while preventing to bring harm on nature.

Fourth, due to the fact that the managers hold high positions in companies, they are pressured
of the expectations that they are set to be the role model. An ethical reawakening emphasizes
the relevance of traditional values like honesty in managerial decision.

Lastly, through technology, it is easier to connect with more people especially in business. The
internet and e-business revolution is all about the latest innovations in business which makes it
more significant because of the accessibility of selling and offering products and services online.

Each sources have equal importance which mean all of it go along together in order to create a
harmonious and productive organization. So, if a manager fails to take even one source
seriously, the organization may face challenges. In example, environmentalism is very relevant
today especially that more companies are encouraged to promote less plastic use and more on
reusing recyclable materials. There would always be a way where companies who neglect this
significance will be punished because of their action. Today, more people promote the
awareness of plastic harm to the environment. Because of this, they have the capability to bring
down or put in shame companies who opposes this action. The challenge to these companies
especially to the managers is to create new and innovative ideas that will conform with the
requirements of the economic aspect of the community.
