PREFACE

This Lab sheet edition is issued as a guide to efficient execution of


practical/ lab work for Diploma Geomatic course in Malaysia’s Polytechnics.

It has been prepared and compiled with the assistance and advice of
Geomatic Lab Sheets Committee.

Special credit to officers and personnel from various polytechnics who


contributed valuable information in the preparation process, the Geomatics
Academic Committee who reviewed large part of lab sheet and the
Curriculum & Evaluation Section in the Curriculum Development & Career
Training Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia

COURSE

INSTRUCTIONAL DURATION : 15 WEEKS

CREDIT (S) : 3

PREREQUISITE (S) : DCG1023 BASIC CADASTRAL SURVEYING

SYNOPSIS

CADASTRAL SURVEYING 2 provides students with the knowledge on title survey, land
development process and exposure to conduct cadastral works according to the latest
regulations. It also emphasizes on problem solving and technique of data collection manually
and Field To Finish (F2F) concept until the production of Certified Plan (CP).

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLO)

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

1. Perform cadastral work with F2F concept until the production of CP according to the
Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM) or Department of Land and Survey
Sarawak (JTSS) or Department of Land and Survey Sabah (JTUS) format. (P4,PLO2)
2. Demonstrate the ability to lead and work as a team to complete astronomical observation in
cadastral work manually according to Cadastral Survey Regulation. (A3,PLO9)

LAB SHEET 1 : Conduct cadastral survey traverse manually with m correction from

OUTCOMES RTA : 21 hours

Student should be able to:


1. conduct cadastral surveying work manually
2. apply m correction from sun observation

FIELD PROCEDURE

1. Obtain the appropriate tracing of fieldwork based on the information provided before
survey start. Tracing must be presented to your supervisor.

2. Carry out the Differential Field Test for instrumental error.

3. Obtain the appropriate datum as required in Survey Regulations and record it.

4. Data recorded manually using field book

5. Use the relevant form for the sun observation if required.

6. Carry out a closed-traverse. A minimum of 8 stations is required. Every member of the


group must carry out observation and booking for at least one station.

7. In the traverse work, it must cover planting boundary marks and other related matters as
may be necessary.

8. Booking must be neat and clear.

9. Each group must produce/plot a Certified Plan according to Survey Regulations.

RESULTS

Compare the measurements from the Total Station and Certified Plan. Carry out refixation on
missing boundary marks.

At the end of these practical, students must send report containing as follow.
i) Field work title
ii) Purpose / Objective
iii) Equipment used ( with pictures / sketch)
iv) Field work procedure
v) Outcome
vi) Analyzed / calculation data (if need)

viii) Certified Plan

LAB SHEET 2 : Conduct cadastral survey based on the F2F concept

OUTCOMES RTA : 18 hours

Student should be able to:


1. conducted cadastral surveying work by F2F concept
2. appreciate F2F concept as implemented by the Department of Survey & Mapping (JUPEM)

FIELD PROCEDURE

4. Start booking the external workbook by e-Cadastral Survey Regulations 2009.

group must carry out observation and booking for at least one station.
6. In the traverse work, it must cover planting boundary marks and other related matters as
may be necessary.
7. Each group must produce/plot a Certified Plan according to Survey Regulations.

LAB SHEET 3: Conduct survey work for sub-division

OUTCOMES RTA : 6 hours

Student should be able to:


1. Calculate area for sub-division
2. Provide pre-computation plan
3. Marking boundary marks according to pre-computation plan

WORK PROCEDURES

1. Prepare pre-computation plan based on practical 1 or 2


2. Divide the lot into several compartments.
3. Make sure there is a 'road reserve' on the lots.
4. Keep Linear Misclose within the permissible limits
5. Mark the boundaries based on the pre-computation plan

RESULTS

Compare the measurements from the Total Station and Pre-computation Plan.

At the end of this practical, student must send report containing following case:
i) Field work title
ii) Purpose / Objective
iii) Equipment used ( with pictures / sketch)
iv) Field work procedure
v) Outcome
vi) Analyzed / calculation data (if need)
