1. Consider the arrangement shown in the figure below.

Assume that R = 6 ohm, l = 1,2 meter and

a uniform 2,5 T magnetic field is directed into the page. At what speed should the bar be moved
to produce a cuurent of 0,5 A in the resistor?

2. A conducting rod of weight 2 N and length 10 cm is free to slide downward between two vertical
copper tracks. If a resistance of 0,05 ohm is connected between the tops of the tracks, a
constant magnetic field of 0,8 T is directed perpendicular to the motion of the rod, and the rod
moves with constant velocity under the effect of the gravitation force, calculate :
a) The current in the resistor.
b) The velocity of the rod.
c) The power in resistor.

3. A rectangular loop of sides 1 m and 2 m is confined to a magnetic field of 0,5 T. Calculate the
magnetic flux through the loop, if the angle between the normal of the loop and the magnetic
field is : a) 0o b) 30 o c) 90 o d) 120 o
4. A flat coil of wire has an area of 0,5 m2 and consists of 10 turns. At to the coil is perpendicular to
the field, so its normal is parallel to the field. The coil is rotated through an angle of 30o in a
time of 0,1 s. Determine the average induced emf if the magnetic field strength is 1,5 T.

5. A coil of wire consists of 20 turns, each of which has an area of 25 cm2. A magnetic field is
perpendicular to the surface of each loop. At time to = 0 s, the magnitude of the magnetic field
at the location of the coil is Bo = 5 x 10-2 T. At later time t = 0,1 s, the magnitude of the field at
the coil has increased to B = 7 x 10-2 T.
a) Find the average emf induced in the coil during thid time interval.
b) What will the value of the average induced current be, if a resistor of R = 10-2 ohm is
connected to the coil?

6. A long solenoid of length 10 cm and cross sectional area 5 cm2 contains 3000 turns per metre.
a) Find the self-inductance of the solenoid.
b) Determine the emf induced in solenoid when the current increases from 1 A to 3 A in a time
of 0,1 s.
