Andrea,

I can’t tell you how excited I am to begin working with you and the rest of core 1 his year
in acting. Acting has consistently been one of the many things I strive to gain proficiency and
even excellence in. In class, I wholeheartedly meant what I said when I said that I wanted to
gain the ability to change people's lives with what I produce on stage. So many professionals
have granted me with that life changing display of love, loss, heartache, joy, and many other
tugging emotions that altered my life for the better. If I may, I would like to share my favorite
memory of this type of performance. I had the privilege to go to broadway and see Dear Evan
Hansen on October 29th, 2017. One of Ben Platt’s final days as a member of the company. I sat
there and witnessed the telling of a story, calling my attention to a whole new side of life’s
struggle . From start to finish, Ben Platt opened my eyes to how difficult everyday tasks are
when plagued with debilitating social anxiety. I arose from my seat, amazed at the emotional
fluidity that had just been expressed before my eyes, and as tears ran down my cheeks I
applauded with inspiration gleaming in my eyes. I want to be able to create that inspiration in
others, and if at all possible, impact someone’s life with my craft. Something I am confident this
class will help me with. The first day of class was one that shook the rust off for me. As we
performed the amoeba, I began to feel a little insecure because I couldn’t think of any poses,
but I went along and dove into it… Literally! It was great to feel the support of the class and
regain confidence in my choices. I am really excited to see where the class takes me in my
acting. I resonated with the quote, “the, discarding of masks, the revealing of the real
substance--a totality of physical and mental reactions.” This represents everything I would like to
achieve in this class. I can’t wait for the continuity of my emotions to explode into scenes and
monologues. I do not have any questions about the syllabus. I just can’t wait to begin!
