Earned nominations for best motion picture-musical or comedy and garnered quite a few

nominations, Crazy Rich Asians is a romantic-comedy movie based on the 2013 novel of Kevin
Kwan, Crazy Rich Asians. Constance Wu, Herny Golding, Gemma Chan and Michelle Yeoh are
just some of the daring stars starring in the movie. Crazy Rich Asians, along with other films like
Step Up 2:The Streets and G.I Joe is directed by Jon M. Chu. From a budget of $30 million, the
film grossed over $ 238 million making it the highest-grossing romantic comedy in a decade
with 121 minutes running time.

Crazy Rich Asians is a movie about cliché love stories of a man, Nicholas Young (Henry Golding)
and woman, Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) typically hindered by their social status. Wherein, in
this case, one's reason to love the other ,the so called commoner, is because of the way he is
treated without malice of regard for the money. Rachel Chu, an american-born Chinese NYU
professor accompanies her boyfriend, nicholas young to Singapore to attend his best friend's
wedding, as the best man, only to be ambushed by the fact that nick is indeed the prince william
of Asia . Alongside this, rachel must face the wolves and the accusing stares of nick's
environment, ultimately to win Nick's mother's approval Eleanor Sun-Young's (Michelle Yeoh).
Amongst other things Crazy Rich Asians is, it shows aspects of Chinese culture and racisms,
toward Chinese and from Chinese nationalities. The movie also illustrates the environment of
the elite class and the different reactions towards commoners entering their lives.

One of the most exciting part of the movie is the scene of colin khoo(Chris Pang) and araminta
lee's (Sonoya Mizuno) wedding of the century. The wedding is the clear definition of glamorous
and extravagant. From the nature vibe of the church, plastered with variations of flowers and
plants that bring the audience to the heart of an enchanted forest much like in the Disney movie,
Princess and the Frog, to the aisle's flooded effects which was aided by the warm and
embracing lights completely set the mood of a very romantic scene. As fun as indulging in the
luxurious visuals can be, the musical aspect is not something to ignore. The song "Can't Help
Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley is heavenly as it is (INSERT INFO ABOUT ANI NA SONG) but the
way the Kina Grannis sung it perfectly suited and amplified the scene into something worth
remembering. The wedding in the movie is much like everyone else's dream wedding where
everything is perfect and tears are shed from happiness. It is like disney princess wedding
coming to life with all the pretty colors and picture-perfect moments.

The exquisite attention to the cinematography is quite specific like how lanterns were turned red
from blue to align with Chinese culture. The use of CGI is incorporated to further enhance and
give the rich-feels of the movie. Through this, the birds-eye-view of the Young estate, where the
Tan Hau party was held, was created. The acting style of the characters are also one of the
characteristics of a movie that drives the viewers to watch it. Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) and
Nick Young's (Henry Golding) chemistry is really felt, especially in the wedding scene where they
had a conversation through their eyes and smiles. Awkwafina who played a role as Rachel's
weird but trusted friend, Peik Lin, clearly gave justice to her role. The music of the movie makes
the audience feel emotions and has significant meanings fitting to the scenes they were played.
Just like the music to Astrid Leong's (Gemma Chan) RENEWING SELF which is Katherine Ho's
cover to Coldplay's song, Yellow.
