Greetings,

Today i would like to let you know about an untouched, unexplored, univested
market. The pet industry is booming in developing countries like India, where we have seen
double digit growth in recent years even through various obstacles like demonetization and
limited number of industry players. Refer to the report (
https://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/4471528/india-pet-care-market-2018-2023-siz
e-and ) According to the report, the India pet care market continues to grow in double digits
despite headwinds like demonetization of 2016 and GST implementation in 2017. Though,
its whooping growth was impacted in late 2016 as well as early 2017 and could only recover
after March 2017. India pet care industry advanced with a value CAGR of 23% during 2012-17.

Pet ownership of dogs and other pets in India has increased substantially over the past
decade and this has contributed towards increased demand of pet care products. High
growth potential has attracted more investments and many pet startups like Dogspot,
Heads Up for Tails have come up over the past three years. Even Mr. Ratan Tata couldn’t
resist the wave and went ahead to invest an undisclosed amount in Dogspot

Considering the boom of pet industry the industry faces a grave problem, which is currently
unexplored on, Lost pets, in India with currently has grown from 7 million in 2006 to 10
million in 2014 to currently pegged at 22 million; on an average 6,00,000 pets are adopted
every year (source: India International Pet Trade Fair). The issue of pets being lost is a rising
issue, with a number of pets being lost forever.

Currently except a few Facebook Groups there is no dedicated website in India which solely
focuses on the problem of lost pets. The lack of proper dedicated website, infrastructure,
public services results in the problem being unsolved. I have come up with a detailed
comprehensive business plan which aims to solve the above discussed issue.

MISSION -- Our mission is to help and build resources to find lost pets in India and reunite
them with their respective owners.

The idea is to grow into a platform where pet owners can approach and seek out help to find
their lost pet. Integration of existing platform from social media under one common platform,
To create a ecosystem catering the need of a pet owner from start to end.

To gather data, and work on analytics and develop a system predicting the possible
outcomes of a case. To develop a database regarding detailed information of every user,
thus keeping a command over its needs and requirements.

Current Analysis

Considering the problem of Lost pets, there is NO dedicated website, platform for lost pets.
Smaller Facebook, Whatsapp groups/ websites like Find My Dog , I lost my dog have been
resourceful in finding the lost pet but are limited in various parameters.

The limitation of them are listed below --

1) Limited Reach:

Facebook is a great social media platform but has a tons of limitations for users trying
to reach them, more ever it doesn’t serve the community which isn’t on its platform.
Whereas a website is accessible to users all around the world with open access to
any user who wants to share significant information regarding lost pets.

2) Data Integrity Issues:

Any Facebook page has posts of

a) Lost Dogs
b) Lost Cats
c) Found Dogs
d) Found Cats
e) Missing Birds
f) Food Donations
The lack of sorting results in great mix up of data and other issues.

3) Customer Reviews:

Considering the good work appreciation is definitely received by users, but

Facebook lacks an open platform for user testimonials. Most users have commented
in the comments section about the good service, moreover the comments aren’t
considered in the reviews section.

4) Unease of Donations:

There is uncertainty in the donations given as the users aren’t aware of

donations being accepted on the page, moreover repeated donations of the same
product being given might also be included. Also there is uncertainty in types of
donations accepted ranging from money to food or medicines or other essential
supplies. If there is systematic page on the website describing the donation, types of
it, uses of it, items in urgent need it’ll be extremely convenient for the users to donate.

5) Rescue Stories:

There are a few unsorted stories regarding a successful completion of a lost

pet case. With the pet being found the user being thankful for the
service provided and expressing recommendations isn’t available on the website.

6) Blog Posts:

Facebook Pages lack blog posts, With a proper website a blog page can be
started and blogs on how to handle, take care, rescue, give first aid treatment etc. can
be posted, which will directly/ indirectly result in greater customer interaction and
ultimately generating driving traffic on the website too.

Also a point to be noted there are no ground resources deployed in finding the lost pets, also
most of the pages are started by animal lovers/ pet owners whose pets got lost and are
encouraged to fight this issue and prevent it from happening to others.

Competition Analysis --

1) Find My Dog
The website is very naive in approach and there is no clear description of the
services it offers, area of coverage and other important details aren’t provided properly.

2) I lost my dog
The website is not fully published it’s a wordpress owned free blog website.

Business Model

The main income source will be Advertisement space on the website, secondary income
source will be affiliate marketing of pet friendly services, products. The tertiary income
source will consists of 10% of reward money and income from a small scale e-commerce
store which will be integrated on the same website and will solely focus on selling pet finding
tech devices (GPS collars etc.)

Considering the primary source of income, it depends solely on number of page views, clicks
per ad and can be worked upon, increased through SEO, Digital Marketing, Blogging.

Considering the secondary source of income, it can be worked upon by collaborating with
pet lovers, other pet friendly service providers.

Considering the tertiary source of income, it can be worked upon as a small scale pilot
ecommerce store.
The end user won't be charged any fee for any posting he/she creates on the website, there
will be no compulsion on reward to be offered to the finder, but if offered the company will
charge around 10% of the reward money.
