Disaster Readiness and Risk Reduction

I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course focuses on the application of scientific knowledge and the solution of practical problems in a
physical environment. It is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical science and daily living.

II. STANDARDS
Learning Area Standard
Learners should demonstrate understanding of the concept of disaster, its risks to human life and the preventive
as well as the corrective measures in natural calamities and destructive phenomena.

Key Stage Standard


The learners relate the concept of disaster with daily life.

Grade- Level Standard

At the end of the semester, learners should appreciate value of the Mother Earth in general, imbibe sustainable
values and practice ethe preservation and protection of natural resources to become effective stewards of
nature.

III. COURSE OBJECTIVES – for the learners to understand the nature of disaster and devise ways on how
to mitigate natural calamities and suggest solutions in risk reduction.
