Marketing

"the action or business of promoting and selling products or services,


including market research and advertising."

Marketing is defined by the American Marketing Association as "the


activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating,
delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients,
partners, and society at large".

 Types of marketing

1.TRADITIONAL MARKETING

Traditional Marketing refers to a kind of promotion, advertisement in which


companies used this method in the early period to market their product.
This Marketing includes print advertisements, billboards, flyers or
pamphlets, TV, newspaper, radio, etc.

Traditional Marketing is a huge sized category which includes all forms of
advertising and marketing, it is the most known type of marketing,
encompassing the advertisements that we hear and see daily. Most of these
marketing strategies fall under one of four categories.

Print marketing is the oldest form of traditional marketing. Loosely defined


as advertising in paper form, this strategy has been in use since ancient times,
when Egyptians created sales messages and wall posters on papyrus. Today,
print marketing usually refers to advertising space in newspapers, magazines,
newsletters, and other printed materials intended for distribution.\.]

Broadcast marketing includes television and radio advertisements. Radio


broadcasts have been around since the 1900s, and the first commercial
broadcast—a radio program supported by on-air advertisements—aired on
November 2, 1920. Television, the next step in entertainment technology, was
quicker to adopt advertising, with less than ten years between its inception
and the first television commercial in 1941.

Direct mail marketing uses printed material like postcards, brochures,


letters, catalogs, and fliers sent through postal mail to attract consumers. One
of the earliest and most well-known examples of direct mail is the Sears
Catalog, which was first mailed to consumers in 1888.

Telephone marketing, or telemarketing, is the practice of delivering sales


messages over the phone to convince consumers to buy a product or service.
This form of marketing has become somewhat controversial in the modern
age, with many telemarketers using aggressive sales tactics. The U.S. federal
government has passed strict laws governing the use of telemarketing to
combat some of these techniques.

2.DIGITAL MARKETING

Digital marketing is any form of marketing products or services that


involves electronic devices.

It’s is advertising delivered through digital channels. Channels such as


social media, mobile applications, email, web applications, search
engines, websites, or any new digital channel.

Digital marketing is the promotion of your business, organization or brand


using channels such as the Internet, mobile devices, television and radio in
addition to using creative online advertising, video, podcasts and other such
methods to communicate your message. Internet marketing in particular
plays a huge part in any digital marketing strategy and is becoming the core
of many organizations overall marketing strategies, particularly with regard
to social media and viral marketing.

Digital marketing ecosystem is not only concerned with internet marketing


and social media marketing, in introduction we discussed that peoples have
a belief that internet or social media marketing are same but not same, be
clear from beginning itself. Digital marketing ecosystem consists of internet
marketing and social media marketing. They are just a channels for
communication, digital ecosystem consist of integrating channels and
integrating services.

Digital marketing targets a specific segment of the customer base and is


interactive. Digital marketing is on the rise and includes search result ads,
email ads and promoted tweets – anything that incorporates marketing with
customer feedback or a two-way interaction between the company and
customer.

Internet marketing differs from digital marketing. Internet marketing is


advertising that is solely on the Internet, whereas digital marketing can take

eMarketing, is the marketing of products or services over the Internet. Internet
marketing ties together creative and technical aspects of the Internet, including
design, development, advertising, and sale.

Internet has become the centre of not only our personal and social lives, but also our
business and professional lives. It is quick and very user friendly, It makes it very
easy for anyone to market, buy, sell or advise anything or anyone via the Internet.

Internet Marketing is an all-inclusive term for marketing products and/or services


online. Internet marketing is using the Internet to do one or more of the following:

 Communicate a company's message about itself, its products, or its services.


 Conduct research as to the nature (demographics, preferences, and
needs) of existing and potential customers.
 Sell goods, services, or advertising space over the Internet.

Internet marketing is associated with several business models, the most widely used
are Listed below, although there are many other forms which are devised based on a
business‘s specific needs and objectives:

 E-Commerce: The means by which goods or services are sold


directly to consumers (B2C) and businesses (B2B)

 Lead-Based Websites: Organizations can create significant worth by getting


sales leads from their websites, this of course may be part of a chain of Internet
marketing events that originate elsewhere and culminate in lead generation.
 Affiliate Marketing: This describes a process by which products or services
developed by one person are sold by another active seller for a percentage
of profits. The owner of the product usually supports his affiliates by supplying
the necessary marketing materials: affiliate links, tracking facilities, and
promotional aids such as sales letters, trials, and more.
 Local Internet Marketing: This is the process of a locally based company
traditionally selling belly to belly and utilizing the Internet to find and nurture
relationships, later to take those relationships offline.
 Blackhat Marketing: This is a form of internet marketing which employs
deceptive, abusive, or less than truthful methods to drive web traffic to a
website or affiliate marketing offer. This method sometimes includes spam,
cloaking within search engine result pages, or routing users to pages they
didn't initially request.
 Newsgroups and e-mails: Posting to newsgroups and employing direct e-mail
campaigns are two of the more popular forms of online advertising and
marketing that are being used by Internet businesses.
