1. Past Simple Tense Explanation: Watch the video and take notes

 We use past simple when the action is in the past


 When the verb is regular we add “ed” at the end of the verb
 We add “didn´t” or “did” before the verb in negative sentences and question
 When the verb is irregular we use the verb in pass form
 The verb “to be” is irregular then we use “was or were” in the negative form we add “not or n’t”

2. REGULAR VERBS: Watch the following video and take notes about the rules for
regular verbs and their simple past form.

 When the verb is regular, we add “-ed”


 When the verb ending in “e”, we add “-d”
 For short verb ending in consonant, vowel and consonant, double the consonant and add "-ed"
 For short verb ending in"-y", change the "y" to "i" and add the "-ed"
 Time expressions: last, ago and yesterday
 We use “didn’t” in negative sentences and the verb in base form
 In interrogative sentences, we use “did”+ subject+ infinitive

 “ed” pronounced in 3 way : [t], [d] y [Id]


 Walked pronounced with [t]
 Smelled pronounced with[d]
 Visited pronounced with [Id]
 Verbs ending in mute sounds (p, k, th, f, s, sh, ch) are pronounced with [t].
 Verbs ending in “t” or “d” are pronounced with [id].
 When there is an "h" in between the vowel and the consonant, it´s sound is removed.
 when it ends in consonant and the next begins with vowel, the sound of "ed" is loud and clear.

AUXILIARY
 Present simple, we use “is or are”
 Past simple, we use “ was or were” in affirmative sentences and in negative sentences we use “wasn´t or
weren´t”
 Be=was(singular)/were(plural,you)
 Past simple, we use “was and were” in questions and answers
 Short answers (yes/no questions): yes/no+ subject+ was/were or wasn´t/weren’t
