1. Blog

When: 3 months before backwaters

What: We will host an open blog which will invite entries from the college community related
to the theme of backwaters. The best article will be given a monetary incentive and will be
positioned as a contest. The articles will be filtered by the Backwaters committee. The articles
will be published on the backwaters website and shared. People who read the article (the
writer, their friends, and people who find the article interesting) will be lead to the website
and thus browse through it.
Feasibility: High. Will take some changes to the website and some effort in sifting through
articles. A nominal prize of Rs. 2500 can be kept.
2. Student interaction Video

When: 2.5 months before Backwaters

What: We ask students what Backwaters means to them. They will have to answer in one
word or a phrase. We will ask everyone in the batch to give entries. We will put 300 entries
in the form of a video which will be released on the FB page. The idea is to get people involved.
Feasibility: High. The only problem is making sure a lot of people give entries in which case a
committee member will stand outside class and take videos of individuals/groups.
3. Impromptu quizzes
When: Beginning 2.5 months before Backwaters
What: We will have pop quizzes in the most crowded areas of college: the mess during night
mess, post PGP events, common rooms etc. We will ask a few questions related to backwaters
which essentially are guises to tell them interesting things about the fest. The winners will be
given a cool Backwaters Glow T-shirt which they will wear to a glow party organised post
Backwaters exclusively for these winners.
Feasibility: High. Monetary investment in T-shirts.
PTO
4. Contextualising academics in terms of theme
When: One month before backwaters
What: The people who do not come for backwaters are largely those who are focused on
academics and see a disconnect between their goal of classroom learning and management
events. To address these issues, we will contextualise what they are learning at that point in
the class- specific chapters and case studies in terms of Backwaters theme. For instance, we
are learning Attitudes and perceptions in Organisational Behaviour, this can easily be related
to last year’s theme- Disruptive Diversity, in terms of how the different attitudes add value to
the workplace. We can ask professors who prefer experiential value and show them the value
additions for students by events in relation to the subject. Thus they can ask the students to
participate. This essentially bridges the gap for the students who are academics focused
Feasibility: Medium. We do not know how much buy-in there will be from the professors
5. Selfie with the pronite celebrity for lucky participants
When: Released seven days before backwaters
What: To increase participations, we will release an offer which will allow seven lucky
participants who register for events in the ensuing even days, to click a backstage selfie with
the pronite celebrity. This will give the last minute push to register for the events.
Feasibility: Medium. It will require the permission of the pronite celebrity.

PS: One way of going about it is to shut down the mess service, no zomato, no swiggy, no
Bhooklagi and not allow PGP students to go outside campus for the duration of Backwaters.
Will surely work :P
