Promotion with a Purpose Project

1. You are to creatively promote yourself through the decoration of a large coffee can or
similar like-size container. In the promotion of yourself, provide as much information to
your target market (your class peers) as possible. Example: likes, dislikes, favorite things
to do, siblings, pictures of family, goals, vacations, as well as spare-time expenditure,
hobbies, and collections. Ensure that the information is something no other person would
know about you. The information provided on the container should provide peers with
enough information to talk to another person and that person would feel that you had
already met.

2. The inside of the container should hold as many promotional items as possible. You
may only use a promotional item twice, but must be from different sources. Example: A
pen from Outback's and one from Staples. The more types of items available, the more
you will realize how we are exposed to promotion in almost every phase of our daily life.
You may use many different types of promotional items to include institutional promotion
(promotion to improve the image of the company) Example: information printed from a
company website.

On the back of this handout, find some examples to help you scavenge for the most
interesting or novel types of items. You will be totally surprised to find how many items
you have in your home to put into your container. Have fun with this. Your grade will be
based on the presentation of your container to the class and the number of items secured.
