4. Aims  :  
This  course  is  designed  to  give  students:  
§ Skills  to  design  a  real  business  plan  for  a  certain  corporation  or  an  organisation,  particularly  
in  the  aspects  of:  
o Analysing  the  environment  which  influences  the  operation  of  the  company/organisation  
o Designing  a  corporate  strategic  plan    
o Implementing  corporate  strategic  plan    
o Evaluating  the  performance  of  corporation/organisation  
§ Skills  to  analyse  the  application  of  corporations/organisations  in  strategic  management  
process  systematically.    
 
5. Method  of  teaching:

Each  member  of  the  group  is  assigned  to  complete  part  of  the  assignment  as  follows:  
• if  a  student  is  a  Marketing  Management  concentration  student,  she/he  should  create  a  
marketing  plan  for  a  nominated  company  has  selected  for  the  group  
• if  a  student  is  a  Financial  Management  concentration  student,  she/he  should  create  a  
financial  plan  for  a  nominated  company  has  selected  for  the  group  
• if  a  student  is  an  Operation  Management  concentration  student,  she/he  should  create  
an  operation  plan  for  a  nominated  company  has  selected  for  the  group  
• if  a  student  is  a  Human  Resource  Management  concentration  student,  she/he  should  
create  a  HR  plan  for  a  nominated  company  has  selected  for  the  group  
• if  a  student  is  an  Entrepreneursh  &  Business  concentration  student,  she/he  should  
create  a  new  product  development  plan  for  a  nominated  company  has  selected  for  the  
group  
• if  a  student  is  a  Syaria  Management  concentration  student,  she/he  should  create  a  
syaria  product  plan  for  a  nominated  company  has  selected  for  the  group  
 
Students  may  discuss  this  individual  assignment  to  member  of  the  lecturers  of  this  course.  The  
submission  of  the  individual  assignment  is  session-­‐7  (at  the  latest).  No  late  submission.  
 
8. Class  Rule:  
Lecture  starts  on  time.    The  Lecturer  tolerates  15  minutes  late  arrival.  After  15  minutes  the  door  
is  closed  and  late  arrival  students  are  not  allowed  to  attend  the  class.  Team  presenter  should  
arrive  before  the  class  is  started.  Team  Writer  assists  Team  Presenter  in  preparing  the  infocus,  
layout  of  the  class,  providing  the  DHMD  (Daftar  Hadir  Mahasiswa  &  Dosen).    
The  Lecturer  will  not  tolerate  any  recycled  project  assignment  submitted  as  if  it  is  a  new  project.  
Penalty  will  be  given  to  any  students  who  submit  recycled  project  assignment.

The  institution  appreciates  all  students  to  avoid  academic  dishonesty  such  as  plagiarism  
(claiming  someone  else’s  thought/views/works/picture  etc  as  theirs)  and  cheating.  The  
institution  has  no  tolerance  for  acts  of  academic  dishonesty.  Students  who  violate  University  
rules  on  academic  dishonesty  are  subject  to  disciplinary  penalties,  including  the  possibility  of  
failure  in  the  course  and  all  couses  taken  in  the  semester.

Appendix-­‐1:  TEACHING  METHOD  
 
1. The  lecture  is  conducted  in  session  1  to  session  3  of  class  meeting.  The  lecturer  explains  the  
content  of  the  course  material  about  strategic  management  process.  The  content  of  the  lecture  are  
as  follows:      
a. Session  1  of  the  class,  lecturer  will:  
i. Explain  about  Course  Silaby,    
ii. Assist  the  students  to  form  the  Team,  setting  the  date  of  the  presentation,  setting  the  Team  
as  presenter  Team,  Discussant  Team  and  Writer  Team.  Each  Team  consists  of  4  students.  
Each  group  should  consist  of  students  (at  least)  from  the  concentrations  of  financial  
management,  marketing  management,  and  operation  management.      
iii. Explain  the  outline  of  the  student  project  report  about  “Strategic  Planning”  (see  Appendix-­‐2  
Outline  of  Project  Report).  
 
b. Session  2  of  the  class,  the  lecturer  will  explain  the  topic  of  environment  analysis  (internal,  
external  and  competitive  environment).  The  topic  explained  is  part  of  the  Strategic  Planning’  
material  in  Section  A.      
 
c. Session  3  of  the  class,  the  lecturer  will  explain  the  topic  of  strategy  formulation  or  strategic  
planning,  strategy  implementation  and  evaluation.    The  topic  explained  is  part  of  the  Strategic  
Planning’  material  in  Section  B,  C  and  D.  
 
d. Session  4  of  the  class,  all  Teams  should  submit  the  Draft  of  the  Project  Report  (Section  A,  B,  C  
and  D).  By  the  time  the  Team  should  present  their  project,  they  should  submit  the  final  version  
of  the  project  report.  All  reports  submitted  by  Team  presenter  are  final,  there  is  no  extension  to  
revise  the  report.  Except  Team  presenter-­‐1  and  2  will  be  given  two  weeks  extension  to  revise  
the  report.    
 
2. From  session  5  to  session  15  of  the  class,  the  lecture  is  conducted  in  the  form  of  the  seminar.  The  
seminar  is  guided  by  three  different  Teams  as  follows:  
• Presenter  Team  (Kelompok  Penyaji)  
• Discussant  Team  (Kelompok  Pembahas)  
• Writer  Team  (Kelompok  Notulen)  
The  schedule  of  the  presentation  is  attached  in  Appendix-­‐3:  Course  Schedule.  
 
3. Responsibility  of  Presenter  Team:  
a. Select  a  corporation  that  will  be  analysed  and  nominated  as  a  case  project  for  the  project  
report.  The  selected  corporation  should  have  a  minimun  two-­‐year  annual  report  (2015,  2016)  
consecutively.  The  annual  report  should  be  available  publicly.  It  is  recommended  to  select  a  
publilc  corporation  (non-­‐holding  company;  its  should  be  a  single  corporation).  If  one  of  the  
Teams  has  access  to  non-­‐public  corporation  (small  medium  enterprise),  it  is  your  obligation  to  
have  full  access  to  their  annual  report  (income  statement  and  balance  sheet).  
b. Prepare  a  formal  letter  from  SBA  (if  it  is  required  to  have  permission  to  do  data  collection  at  the  
selected  company).  The  letter  could  be  arranged  by  the  class  coordinator  in  advance.    It  is

advisable  for  all  the  teams  to  contact  several  nominated  companies  as  their  targeted  
companies,  in  order  to  have  a  real  and  factual  data  for  the  case  project  report.  
c. Submit  final  written  project  report.  The  project  report  is  written  systematically  based  on  the  
outline  presented  [see  Appendix-­‐2  Outline  of  Project  Report].  The  report  is  typed  with  font  
Arial  11,  margin  (left,  right,  top,  bottom  3  cm),  single  space  and  between  paragraphs  use  double  
space.  Report  is  covered  neatly  using  ‘metal  ring’.    
d. Prepare  an  attractive  visual  presentation  using    power  point  and  video  presentation.  The  
duration  for  presentation  is  45-­‐60  minutes.  So  each  student  in  the  Team  has  around  15  to  20  
minutes  of  presentation.  Each  student  should  prepare  well  and  is  not  allowed  to  read  from  the  
report.  Student  may  use  small  note  cards  to  be  reminded  of  the  contents  of  the  presentation.  
All  the  team  members  must  participate  in  class  in  order  to  make  the  discussions  interesting,  
insightful,  and  fun.  
e. Demonstrate  an  understanding  of  the  theory  and  a  creative  application  of  the  theory.  These  
presentations  will  be  evaluated  on  the  creativity  and  appropriateness  of  the  stated  application  
in  the  theory.  
f. Prepare  a  motivational  introduction  before  the  formal  presentation  begins.  The  first  presenter  
may  deliver  a  motivational  quotation  from  wellknown  people.  
g. Prepare  a  rehearsal  before  the  day  of  the  presentation,  so  that  the  team  members  
comprehends  the  contents  of  the  project  report.  
h. Submit  the  project  report  one  week  before  the  presentation  begins  to  the  Disccussant  Team.  So  
that  the  discussant  team  has  adequate  time  to  develop  a  critical  report  based  on  the  Presenter  
Team’s  Project  Report.    
i. Discuss  the  contents  of  the  project  report  with  the  instructor,  at  least  one  week    before  the  
presentation  begins.  The  team  has  to  make  sure  that  every  weakest  point  in  the  report  is  
covered  and  solved.  
j. Distribute  a  printout  of  the  power  point  presentation  to  the  audience  and  instructor.  Each  page  
contains  two  slides,  and  is  typed  using  16  Font  Arial.  
k. Wear  formal  clothing  (male:  jacket  and  tie,  female:  blazer).  
l. Two  weeks  after  the  presentation,  Presenter  Team  should  email  the  revised  report  to  the  
instructor  and  or  submit  the  CD  of  the  Report  (consisting  of  5  files:  word,  power  point  and  video  
presentation,  annual  report  of  the  company  and  other  related  data).  Revised  files  should  be  
typed  as  follows:  SMS-­‐Name  of  Corporation.doc,  SMS-­‐Name  of  Corporation.ppt,  etc  
 
4. Responsibility  of  Discussant  Team:  
a. Contact  and  request  the  Presenter  Team  to  email  a  sofcopy  of  their  Project  Report  one  week  
before  the  presentation  is  begun.      
b. Examine  and  review  the  project  report  of  the  Presenter  Team,  develop  a  constructive  feedback  
throughout  the  section  (Section  A,  B,  C  and  D),  type  the  corrected  paragraph/statement  using  
red  color  in  the  section  which  the  Discussant  team  mean  to  revise.  You  may  
amend/change/adjust  if  you  find  mistakes  and  or  inappropriate  
recommendations/statements/solutions  in  the  Presenter  Team’s  Project  Report.    It  is  
preferrable  that  the  comments  and  the  critical  points  is  presented  at  the  end  of  the  paragraph.  
The  report  is  typed  with  font  Arial  11,  margin  (left,  right,  top,  bottom  3  cm),  single  space  and  
between  paragraf  using  double  space.  Report  is  covered  neatly  using  ‘metal  ring’.

c. Submit  to  the  instructor  the  Discussant  Project  Report  on  the  day  of  the  presentation  of  the  
Presenter  Team  
d. Present  a  5  minutes  power  point  presentation  which  contains  critical  points  of  the  Presenter  
Team  Report.  The  hardcopy  of  the  critical  points  should  be  handed  in  to  the  Presenter  Team  
after  you  finished  presenting  the  critical  points.  Please  keep  in  mind  that  you  can’t  hand  in  the  
critical  points  before  the  class  is  begun.  You  should  keep  your  critical  points  undisclosed.  
e. Wear  formal  clothing  (male  jacket  and  tie,  female  blazer).  
 
5. Responsibility  of  Writer  Team:  
a. Set  up  class  preparation  for  the  seminar  such  as  infocus,  laptop,  speaker,  table  &  chair  lay  out.  
Don’t  forget  to  take  a  DHMD  (Daftar  Hadir  Mahasiswa  &  Dosen)  at  Ruang  Dosen  and  return  it  
after  the  class  is  finished.  
b. Request  the  handout  of  the  Presenter  Team  Presentation’s  material  to  be  distributed  to  the  
class  audiences.      
c. Select  one  of  the  Writer  Team’s  member  as  a  moderator.  The  successfulness  of  the  seminar  is  
determined  by  the  ability  of  the  moderator  to  handle  class  disscussion.  The  moderator  should  
stimulate  the  audience  to  participate  in  class  in  order  to  make  the  discussions  interesting,  
insightful,  and  fun.  However,  there  is  no  need  to  contribute  in  every  session.  Some  of  the  best  
contributors  are  those  who  participate  in  a  few  sessions,  but  whose  comments  are  always  
insightful  and  compelling.  The  key  issue  in  the  discussion  is  quality,  not  quantity.  Although  most  
comments  arise  during  the  case  discussions,  participation  during  the  lectures  is  also  
encouraged.  
 
The  responsibilities  of  the  moderator  :  
• Open  and  conclude  the  seminar.  The  moderator  should  prepare  a  wise  short  statement,  
motivational  quotation,  prominent/wellknown  quotation  as  an  ice  breaker  of  the  opening.  
• Set  up  the  presentation  time  between  45  to  60  minutes.  
• Directing  the  discussants/audiences  to  deliver  direct  questions  (avoid  long  comments  and  
irrelevant  questions).    
• Allocate  the  time  to  ask  and  discussion  to  the  audiences  
• Before  the  closing  is  started,  request  the  lecture  to  deliver  conclusions,  comments  for  the  
presenter  team  and  disscussant  team.  
d. Write  down  all  questions  delivered  during  the  discussion  session.  All  the  notes  is  recorded  in  the  
format  provided  in  the  silaby.  
e. Submit  a  writer  team  report  one  week  after  the  presentation  is  finished.  The  report  is  typed  
with  font  Arial  11,  margin  (left,  right,  top,  bottom  3  cm),  single  space  and  between  paragraphs  
using  double  space.  
f. Wear  formal  clothing  (male  jacket  and  tie,  female  blazer).  
 
6.  Students  as  participants  of  the  seminar  in  the  class  who  are  not  representing  the  presenter  team,  
discussant  team  and  writer  team  are  responsible  as  follows:  
a.  Arrive  in  the  class  on  time  and  participate  in  class  discussion  after  she/he  is  allowed  by  the  
moderator.  
b. Prepare  notes.
