SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 8

I. Objectives
1. Define and classify each quadrilateral.
2. Identify quadrilaterals in daily lives.
3. Practice discipline in following rules during the class discussion and activities.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Quadrilaterals
Materials: Powerpoint presentation, cut-outs and rulers
Reference: Math Builders, Jisela N. Ulpina. Pages 274-276

III. Procedure
A. Review
Ask the class about the previous lesson.
Identify the pictures of polygon that the teacher will show.
Tell something about the given polygon.
B. Motivation
Introduce the “4 pics 1 word” game.
Play the game and let the students guess the pic.
Ask someone from the class to guess the pic.
C. Activities
Divide the class into six groups.
Each group will be given each cutout to measure sides, angles and diagonals of figures.
The teacher will check the work of each group.
D. Abstraction
Proceed to the lesson which is quadrilateral and its kinds.
Present the concept of quadrilateral and its kinds with their own properties.

E. Application
The student will look around in the classroom and identify any of the quadrilaterals.

IV. Assessment
Identify which quadrilateral is applicable to the given property.

V. Assignment
Complete each statement with always, sometimes or never.
