The things at stake

Newsflash, an outbreak has occurred.

During the press con held by the journalists of Alabel National Science Highschool, Ms. Kendal
Unajan an alumna of this school has deeply expressed her opinions on the school’s newly implemented
Senior High School curriculum. She started it by stating that the quality of education has not yet
disappointed her expectations, and the faculty and staff has been successfully maintaining the ‘quality
education’ that AlSci is much more famous of.

Although, during the press con, she has also expressed her worries as she opens up the system
of accepting transferees during the enrollment in senior high school.

“Ang unfair lang, kasi diba, ‘yung mga Grade 7, to be in this school, they have to undergo two
phases of exam tapos may interview pa sa huli. Dapat pati yung senior highschool transferees may exam
din na tulad na ganun.” Ms. Kendal said during the press con.

As a resolution, the teachers that are facilitating the senior highschool has planned to create an
exam for the upcoming enrolees.

“We are actually planning to create different sets of exams that the students will take before
being accepted here. There will be a 1st phase exam and a 2nd phase exam.” She added.

As students of AlSci, is this also something that we need to worry of? As much as we try to uplift
the name of our school, we are surrounded by a different trend--that is why we tend to be different
than the previous generation. But if we were to consider the things we put at stake by not adjusting,
would you still think it’s worth it?

If I were to be asked, yes, I am for it--for the implementation of 1st phase and 2nd phase exams
for transferees in Senior High school. If we have the advantage, we must learn to hold it properly. In
order for the school to uphold their advocacy, the students in it should be worthy of ‘that’ advocacy. But
despite the needed qualifications to be an Alsci Student, it still lies on the perseverance of a student.
Even if some of us are not academically-inclined, we must be willing to exert our efforts into it rather
than degrading ourselves to the filth.

Newsflash, a major outbreak has occurred. The students in Alabel National Science Highschool
are now experiencing a major culture shock. The teachers are expecting them to cope up but the
question is, are the students willing to adjust?
