You will get a detailed look into a continuous change process with SAP
PLM 7
 Based upon a business example, different cross-departmental changes are
done with SAP PLM 7 capabilities
 Explore steps like initiating the change request, approval process as well
as the completion of changes done in a CAD authoring system using the
SAP PLM CAD integration

The demonstration is built up on the DSC Engineering Control Center 5.0

as a case study of CIDEON Software to describe how an integration to SAP
could work on this platform.

The case study does not represent functions/features or processes of the

SAP Engineering Control Center which is based on the DSC ECTR, too.

Change Process

• A project manager identifies quality issues at a particular

component (gear motor) using PLM Analytics (Visual
Enterprise, BCV)
• He creates an Engineering Change Record with a change
request for the exchange of the problematic component (gear
module) using SAP PLM 7 Engineering Change Record
• A product manager clarifies the technical feasibility on item
level, initiates particular steps to be made, and releases the
change request

• The changes (exchange of old gear module with new one) are
conducted by the engineering department in CAD using SAP
PLM CAD Integration
• The Project Manager verifies and releases the changes done
by the engineer using SAP Visual Enterprise and PDF
• Respective changes that apply to Manufacturing Bill of
Material are done by the Manufacturing Engineer using SAP
PLM 7 Product Structure Synchronization (PSS)
• Finally, the Product Manager closes the Engineering Change
Record
