Automated book finding robot for libraries

Abstract: -
The project describes the smart library assistant robotic system. The conventional
library system for returning and issuing books was much time consuming. The
book picking robot is a service robot which is capable of finding, picking and
delivering it as soon as possible to the user. The robot is provided with RFID
reader, Arduino Uno (Atmega328) board, GSM module and motor drivers. every
book in the library are provided with the RFID tags. We used a GSM module to
check the availability of the book and conveys the availability to the user. The
robotic arm provided with some degrees of freedom used to identify the book
using RFID reader and pick up the book from the shelf and place it with the help
of trolley.
The process of book finding and picking is automated by this work. The robot
developed move towards the book and the navigation of robot is controlled
through camera. The robotic arm will move close to the book and then the gripper
will close the jaws to get a hold of the book and then the robotic arm is lifted,
after which the robot returns back to deliver the book to the reader.
