TITLE: MECHANIZED SILK REELING MACHINE (2018)

Background of the study

Silk threads or filaments are produced by silkworms when they construct cocoons that encase their
pupae – a stage in the metamorphosis of caterpillars into moths. The protein fiber of silk is composed mainly
of fibroin, it’s best-known silk is obtained from the cocoons of the larvae of the mulberry silkworm Bombyx
mori reared in captivity (sericulture). The process by which a number of cocoon baves are reeled together to
produce a single thread is called silk reeling. This is achieved by unwinding filaments collectively from a
group of cooked cocoons at one end in a warm water bath and winding the resultant thread onto a fast
moving reel.

Statement of the problem

Problems of the prior art is a time consuming process since it takes about 40 hours to reel one kilogram
of silk but it can be simplified by using a mechanized reeling machine. Also it has poor efficiency and loss of
energy, failure of fiber parts and higher operating cost relating to the machine. The prior art is in need of
further development for it still has problems regarding excessive noise created during the process that could
highly affect the operator due to long exposure.

Significance of the study

The improved art can eliminate the disadvantages discussed relating to quality, productivity,
ergonomics and economy of operations. This machine can be utilized by our indigenous settlers
engaging to sericulture. This improvement can ensure good and smooth reeling of multiple
filaments to form a think and untwisted thread drawn individually.

Hypothesis
The development of the existing reeling machine can produce reeled silk with good consistent
quality
1. Cost effective yet highly efficient using solar powered battery and then controlled by
multicontroller (arduino) so that the rational speed of the motor can be adjusted depending
on the need.
2. The prototype utilizes the excess heat of the fuel in the process of heating the cocoons.
TITLE: DEVELOPMENT OF ALUMINUM CAN MELTER POT (2009)

Background of the study

Consumers of beverages are highly increasing in our generation with the industry’s
development and adjustments of their containers in order to increase demand of their product.
Manufacturing industries has a goal to fulfill every demand possible. These containers vary
depending on the capacity and on the project sales area. For instance, supermarkets sold their drinks
in plastic containers while small businesses sell beverages on glass containers then it is returned to
the retailer for another purchase and one common container being used and sold both by either
supermarkets or small business are aluminum cans.

Statement of the problem

As we all know, aluminum cans are non biodegradable and also one of the common waste
found around the streets and house or block corners. Although given emphasis, proper waste
managements are still in need of alternative solution.

Significance of the study

This research entitled aluminum can melter pot is the device which would extract aluminum
from the waste cans, raw materials would undergo process of melting through which aluminum
would be derived. Aluminum extracted form this process can be greatly used in the industry such as;
food processing, preservation using aluminum foils, construction industry also uses aluminum for
metals in addition for its strength properties.

Hypothesis
1. Produce a prototype that is economical and user-friendly.
2. Fabricate a machine that is capable of melting aluminum cans.
3. Eliminate dangerous by-products.
TITLE: DEVELOPMENT OF AUTOMATIC FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM SIMULATOR WITH
DEPRESSURIZER (2018)

Background of the study

Fire is one of the common essential needs of either an individual or a group. It has variety of
uses that is really helpful in our daily lives. It is produced with the presence of fuel, single spark and
oxygen and widely used for cooking, warmth for cold places and several industrial processes.

Problem of the statement

However, fire can also be as dangerous as it is. Fire related incidents are common problems in
industries and households, and is difficult to avoid. Common causes are electrical failures, open
flames such as candles or kerosene lamps, unattended cooking fireworks and careless smoking. One
factor that is along with this danger is the smoke that could highly affect the breathing when inhaled
thoroughly. Most fire deaths cases are caused by inhalation and suffocation of smoke by cause
respiratory problems as the respiratory tract is being burned by superheated gases.

Significance of the study

This study aims to extinguish the fire and depressurize the structure on fire. This is to lessen
traumatic deaths, and fire ground injuries.
Hypothesis
1. Automatic Fire Sprinkler system with depressurizer. Add solenoid valve to control the flow
of the water, and fabricated design to compensate with the calculated water flow.
2. Test and improve effectiveness
3. Evaluate performance, effectiveness functionality and construction.
