DAILY Teaching
LESSON Dates August 21, 2019 Quarter SECOND
LOG

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of factors of
polynomials, rational algebraic expressions, linear equations and inequalities
in two variables, systems of linear equations and inequalities in two
variables and linear functions.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to formulate real-life problems involving factors of
polynomials, rational algebraic expressions, linear equations and inequalities
in two variables, systems of linear equations and inequalities in two
variables and linear functions, and solve these problems accurately using a
variety of strategies.
C. Learning
Competencies/Objectives Write Linear Equations in Two Variables M8AL-Ie-3
the LC code for each
II. CONTENT Patterns and Algebra

III. LEARNING RESOURCES

A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide pages
2. Learner’s Materials pages
3. Textbook pages Next Century Mathematics 8 p.78-87
4. Additional Materials from Learning Graphing papers, ruler and pencil
Resources (LR) portal
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or
presenting the new lesson
(ELICIT)
B. Establishing a purpose for the - Illustrate linear equations in two variables
lesson - Explain that the most fundamental type of equation in two variables is a
(ENGAGE) linearequation. A linear equation in two variables is an equation that can be written
in the form Ax + By = C where A,B and C are real numbers and A and B are not
both zeros.
- Equations of this type are called linear equations because they generate straight
line graphs when plotted on a standard Cartesian Coordinate System.
C. Presenting examples/instances of Graphs linear equation given any two points.
the new lesson The basic method of graphing an equation is by point-plotting. The idea is to plot as
(ENGAGE) many points that satisfy the equation until a clear picture of the graph is drawn.
1. Choose 3 values for x
2. Find solutions using table
3. Graph the points from the table
Draw a line to connect them
D. Discussing new concepts and Give examples and show to the class how to graph linear equation by point-plotting
practicing new skills #1 and intercepts
(EXPLORE) 1. Y = x + 3
2. Y = x - 4
E. Discussing new concepts and
practicing new skills #2 Let the learners perform Practice Exercise 3 from NCM p. 79-87
(EXPLORE)
F. Developing mastery
(Leads to Formative Assessment 3) Let the learners perform Practice Exercise A from NCM p. 88
(EXPLAIN)
G. Finding practical applications of
concepts and skills in daily living What is the importance of graphing linear equation in two variables?
(ELABORATE)
H. Making generalizations and
abstractions about the lesson How to plot linear equation in two variables?
(ELABORATE)
I. Evaluating learning Graph the equation by plotting at least three points
(EVALUATE) 1. y=x+2 3. 2x + 3y - 12 = 0 5. y = 3x - 1
2. x-y = 0 4. 3x = 15 - 5y
J. Additional activities for application Graph each equation using the x- and y-intercepts
or remediation 1. y = 4x - 2 3. 2x - 11y- 22 = 0 5. y = -x - 1
(EXTEND) 2. 4x - y = 3 4. 24-6x + 12y = 0
