October is one of our favorite and busiest months of the year. We learn about the change
of seasons from summer to Fall, Harvest, Fire Safety, Pumpkins, Nocturnal Animals, and
Halloween.

During Fire Safety week we transformed the play area into a Fire Station. The kids were
able to dress up like fire fighters, "respond to calls", and "put out fires". We had a special
visit from the Port Clinton Fire Department on October 9th. The kids we able to sit inside
a fire truck and ambulance and check out some of the equipment they use on emergency
calls.

Pumpkin week is always a crowd pleaser! Not only do we set up our own pumpkin patch
and Farmer's Market, but we also visit a real Pumpkin Patch. Not only is it a fun
experience for the kids to go on a field trip, but also a great opportunity for parents to
meet and get to know each other. Through pumpkin week, the kids learned about the
parts of a pumpkin as well as the life cycle. Each year we toss our old pumpkins out into
our garden so we can watch them grow over the summer.

We spent week learning about Nocturnal Animals. We read books, made projects and
sorted nocturnal and diurnal animals. They were surprised by some of the animals that are active during the night.

Halloween week is always a fun and busy week. During Halloween week, we put out costumes in the play area, and
Halloween themed activities throughout the classroom centers. We celebrated Halloween with a costume party. We
ate yummy food, went trick-or-treating and played Halloween games. We ended the week with a Pajama and Movie
Day!

We hosted a Wedding Shower and celebrated Ms. Kelly. Thank you to all of the students and parents for helping make
her day special.
