1.0 OBJECTIVE
1.1 To familiarize with PCB drawing software.
1.2 To be able to use the software independently after guided.

2.0 PART 1: PICK PCB PACKAGES & MAKE A PCB TRACES

PROCEDURE:
2.1 Open Proteus software >> ARES 7 Professional (figure 2.1)

Figure 2.1

2.2 ARES Professional window will appear.

2.3 To choose the component PCB footprint, go to the toolbar at top of ARES.
Click Library >> Pick Package/Symbol (figure 2.2). It also can be access
by click the icon at toolbar at the top.

2.4 Pick Packages window will appear. See figure 2.3 for the steps to pick a
component PCB footprint packages.
Pick Packages >> Discrete Component >> Resistors >> RES60

2.5 Then, double-click selected component packages. The packages will

appear in the packages area (figure 2.4).

Figure 2.4

2.6 Find the following PCB footprint packages in Pick Packages windows &
double-click it:
 Pick Packages >> Discrete Component >> Transistor >> ELINE-80
 Pick Packages >> Connectors >> Terminal Blocks >>TBLOCK-l2

2.7 Then, Press OK.

2.8 Place the all packages on a workspace by single-clicking it (see figure

2.5).

Figure 2.5
2.9 To make a PCB trace, click Track Mode (see figure 2.6).

Figure 2.6 Figure 2.7

2.10 The width of the PCB trace can be select from the available width type
(see figure 2.7). The bigger number, the larger width.

2.11 To start make a trace, simply single-click PCB footprint point and drag
a cursor to another point. Then, single-click again to fix the trace.
Simply right-click a mouse to stop making a trace.

2.12 The PCB packages & traces can be deleted by right-clicking it twice
time (click selection mode first – refer figure 2.6).

2.13 Repeat step 2.11 until finish making all traces (see figure 2.8).

2.14 Done. Make sure to save your drawing after every process that you’ve
made.

3.0 PART 2: MAKE A PCB TRACES & HOLES
PROCEDURE:
3.1 Redraw the given PCB traces & holes (figure 3.1).

Figure 3.1

3.2 To start making a traces, click icon & for holes, click icon or .
ST
(See figure 3.2). PUT A HOLES 1 , THEN TRACES!!!

3.3 Then, Choose the ‘Bottom Copper’ at toolbar at the bottom (see figure
3.3). After that, you can start making a PCB traces & holes.

4.0 PART 3: CONVERTING A SCHEMATIC CIRCUIT TO PCB
PROCEDURE:
4.1 From a schematic circuit in figure 4.1, use your own creativity to convert
it to a PCB track.

 PCB track.
5.0 DISCUSSION

Know how to convert schematic diagram to PCB Layout using Ares in Proteus
8. After that, understood how to make a trace, hole type and trace width for
circuit in PCB Layout. Lastly, using Ares in Proteus, can make a trace an
automatically same with schematic diagram.

6.0 CONCLUSION

In conclusion, able to familiarize with PCB drawing software using Proteus 8 at

Ares PCB Layout and this software independently after guided in Lab.
