WELCOME
This is your yearly Reading class! Be prepared for
reading and writing every day! Everyone has their
own unique abilities and therefore you will be held to
your own standard from me. Just remember to do
your best!
What’s in a grade?
I use a points based system. That means that I will
assign however many points I feel that an
assignment is worth. The more important and
harder the assignment, the more points that it will be
worth! Your grade will be broken up into four parts-
❖ Tests/Projects 40%
❖ Quizzes 40%
❖ Classwork/homework 15%
❖ Participation 5%

There are no “community supplies”! Therefore, if you
come to class unprepared see Ms. Rushmore to borrow
them. You can only do this TWICE. After the second
time Ms Rushmore will be informing your parents and
you will have to sign the citation book. After three
times of being unprepared for class, you are at risk of
losing participation points. Borrowing supplies may
only be done BEFORE class!

within the week allowance. Classwork can not be made
up; it can only be excused depending on attendance. If
you are absent, it is your responsibility to collect any

Homework
You will be required to read for homework when we are
doing a novel study. If we aren’t doing a novel study
you can be assigned Reading Plus or a reading log to
complete on a weekly basis. We will discuss this as a
class! Home work will be accepted late with a 10%
penalty for every week it’s late. The penalty for late
work will max out at 50% giving you only half credit for
assignments turned in more than 5 weeks late.

Flexible seating is any place to sit other than the chairs at Free Time
