party! Thank you to the

NOVEMBER 1, 2019
In math, we started working on
subtraction. During whole-group math,

digit numbers (with regrouping) using

the base-ten strategy. In BUILD, we
worked on math facts, counting on and
back, and a variety of other 2nd grade
math skills. We also introduced a new
buddy game. Ask your child what his/her
favorite BUILD center for the week was!
In writing, we wrapped up our Monster
Writing. After multiple drafts, each
student has 2 strong and detailed
paragraphs. To conclude the project,
each child created a monster of their
own. We look forward to sharing the
monster writing with you at
conferences!
In reading, we concluded our unit on
Stellaluna. We analyzed each character’s
point of view, summarized the story in
paragraph form, described how
Stellaluna changed throughout the story,
and so much more! Students who finished
the different writing elements had the
chance to make a 3-D bat.
