1) Name of the Monument

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Santa Ana or Caracas Cathedral

2) Location of the Monument

It is located in the historic center of the city in the Cathedral Parish of the Libertador
Municipality, next to the Plaza Bolívar de Caracas.

3) Structure of the Monument

It is a Church of basilical plant constituted by ships: a central one and two minors to each side,
the central ship is separated from the lateral ones by columns. The bell tower consists of four
bodies and is square in section; in the third body is the bell tower. The main face represents
what is called the altarpiece facade. Currently, there is a clock in the tower that, in addition to
chimes, emits sounds from several songs.

4) History- Creators

It was built in 1665 by Juan de Medina; replacing the small church destroyed because of the
earthquake of 1641; concluded in 1674. Its facade is from 1771, the work of Francisco Andrés
de Meneses. Damaged by the 1812 earthquake, its tower was reduced in size. In 1866 a
frontispiece is built on its facade. In 1932 and the 1960s restoration and modification works
are made throughout the temple. The colonial chapels of the Trinity stand out

5) Functions for the public

Symbolically it is one of the most important places for Catholics. It is an old building, where
many people go to pray.

6) What can you do to preserve the monument you select?

Do not scratch the walls or dirty their facilities, or anything that negatively affects the
monument

1) Materials used

The materials I used are: Boxes, cardboard, silicone, paint, plastic maya, foam rubber and a
stick

2) Process of elaboration of the “Maqueta”

First I painted the base and cut the boxes I was going to use, then I glued the boxes and the
cardboard. I also made some details with silicone. Then I painted everything and in the end I
added the plastic maya to make the fence, and the foam rubber and the stick to make the
bushes and trees

3) What did you learn during the process of elaboration? Explain

I learned to reuse various materials and entertained myself for a while making the model.

2) Ubicación del Monumento

Está ubicado en el centro histórico de la ciudad en la Parroquia de la Catedral del Municipio

Libertador, al lado de la Plaza Bolívar de Caracas.

3) Estructura del monumento

Es una Iglesia de planta basilical constituida por naves: una central y dos menores a cada lado,
la nave central está separada de las laterales por columnas. El campanario consta de cuatro
cuerpos y es de sección cuadrada; En el tercer cuerpo está el campanario. La cara principal
representa lo que se llama la fachada del retablo. Actualmente, hay un reloj en la torre que,
además de las campanas, emite sonidos de varias canciones.

Fue construido en 1665 por Juan de Medina; reemplazando la pequeña iglesia destruida por el
terremoto de 1641; concluyó en 1674. Su fachada es de 1771, obra de Francisco Andrés de

construye un frontispicio en su fachada. En 1932 y en la década de 1960 se realizan trabajos de

Simbólicamente es uno de los lugares más importantes para los católicos. Es un edificio
antiguo, donde muchas personas van a rezar.

6) ¿Qué puedes hacer para preservar el monumento que seleccionas?

No raye las paredes ni ensucie sus instalaciones, ni nada que afecte negativamente al
monumento.

1) Materiales utilizados

Los materiales que utilicé son: cajas, cartón, silicona, pintura, plástico maya, goma espuma y
un palo.

2) Proceso de elaboración de la "Maqueta"

Primero pinté la base y corté las cajas que iba a usar, luego pegué las cajas y el cartón.
También hice algunos detalles con silicona. Luego pinté todo y al final agregué la maya de
plástico para hacer la cerca, y la espuma de goma y el palo para hacer los arbustos y los
árboles.

3) ¿Qué aprendiste durante el proceso de elaboración? Explique

Aprendí a reutilizar varios materiales y me entretuve durante un tiempo haciendo el modelo.
