(MBFI), the Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP) and the Department of Education (DepED) announce the conduct of the 2014 Metrobank-MTAP-DepED Math Challenge from November 2013 to March 2014, The overall objective of the competition is to contribute in improving the quality of mathematics education in the Philippines. Specifically, it aims to: a, awaken greater interest in mathematics among elementary and high school students in both private and public schools nationwid: encourage them to strive for excellence in mathematics; encourage mastery of basic mathematical skills; discover mathematical talents among them; develop the values of hardwork, perseverance, honesty, teamwork, sportsmanship; and provide them with opportunities in leadership and cooperative undertaking pees Participants to this competition are Grades I to VI pupils in the elementary level and Grade 7 to Fourth Year students in the secondary level for the Division elimination and final rounds. Grade VI and Fourth Year Division champions will represent the Division in the Regional and National Finals.
