Question 3.

What recommendations would you make to Rolfs in order to address the both near- and
longer-term issues?

Answer:

 Sample Testing & Approval: Although there are testing procedures in place, they could be further
modified and refined by increasing the testing large sample sizes, regular monitoring of the
production cycles and incorporating advanced testing and validation techniques.
 Data Collection and Analysis: Operators haven’t performed to the best of expected levels of
excellence thus causing problems for the firm hence the process shall be transformed into an
automated by deploying data mining, Machine learning and other new techniques.
 Process Operator based Lining Issue: Standardize all the procedures and levels that are desired for
approvals by defining strict range that have to be adhered to. Any deviations and abnormalities
shall be reported in the best possible time frame and resolved before commencing with the further
lined up operations
 Reduce the number of Defects at Operator level: Defects at the operator level need to be brought
down to decrease the overall number of defective articles being produced. The increased number
of defects leads to huge losses and makes the current system less credible. This needs to be
improved by deploying a committee to initiate corrective measures and keep a regular check on it.
 High quality Auditor’s defect rate: Incorporate usage of statistical tools to resolve the issue of
sample selection, resampling and improve the auditor’s performance significantly
