WEEK 2 : GOAL SETTING & LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

1. DEFINITION OF GOALS

 Goals are the ends toward which we direct our effort.


 Things we aim and pursue certain course of action.

2. CHARACTERISTICS OF GOALS

Use S.M.A.R.T.

 Goals should be Specific.

A specific goal should clearly state what you want to accomplish, why it is an
important goal, and how you intend to accomplish the goal.

 Goals should be Measurable.


Include clear criteria to measure your progress.At the end of your study
session, you’ll be able to determine whether you did what you planned to do.

 Goals should be Attainable.


Goals should be achievable – you can determine whether you reached it.You
begin to figure out ways you can make them come true. Inspiring, meaningful,
challenging enough to motivates people to do it and succeed.

 Goals should be Relevant.


Make goals that are important to you & your lifestyle.

 Goals should be Time based.


Goals need to have a limited time frame and set specific time / deadlines to
complete your goals.

 Goals should be positive.


 Goals should be moderately challenging.
 Goals should be self-chosen.
LONG AND SHORT-TERM GOALS

 Long-term goals are the objectives you set for yourself for the end of
the year or for a lifetime.

 Short-term goals can be set for an hour, end of day, week, month or
semester.

3. ACADEMIC AND PERSONAL GOALS

 Academic goals relate to your coursework


For Example: Going to class, completing assignments,
prepare for exams.
 Personal goals is like joining sporting events, exercising or make new
friends.

4. SETTING GOALS FOR NEW SEMESTER

 Set your goals by using specific strategies to achieve goals for the new
semester
Example:
 Setting priority consider
 Plan for early success concequences
 Plan for reward Learn to calculate GPA
