Aims and objectives of the website

The main of the website is to raise funds for children with cancer and their families. The other

objectives of the website include;

 Giving hope to children with cancer by head-shaving that makes them feel to be part of

the community.

 Creation of awareness regarding childhood cancer in Singapore.

 Develop a community of support for cancer-affected children and their families.

 Send a message to the children with cancer that it is alright to be bald.

 Make the children with cancer feel that there has support in the fight against cancer.

Analysis of the Website Message/Call to action

The main message of the website is offering support to children with cancer and their family.

Cancer has become very rampant especially among children. When a child has cancer they pass a

great deal of suffering from physical, emotional and social (Hair for Hope 2019). The website

aims at reducing this suffering from increasing awareness about cancer. Each shaven head in the

event is an indication by the person of the suffering that children with cancer pass through. Every

person who accepts to shave turns in to an ambassador to enable increase awareness about

childhood cancer among friends and family. The event gives an opportunity to get support from

the public in the form of donations.

Analysis of Stakeholders, publics, and Audience

The various stakeholders involved in Hair for hope include the children with case and their

families, event organizer, government and the general public. The most important stakeholders

are the children with cancer and their family (Hair for Hope 2019). Everything in the event is

about making them comfortable and feel accepted. Terms used should be sensitive not to affect

and the event organizer needs to make them feel at home. The facilities need to be sensitive to

their needs like having an area for the rest. There should also be rapid response medical

personnel in case of an emergency.

The event organizer of the event is the Children Cancer Foundation. Children's cancer

foundation is a charity organization. The foundation aims at raising funds to take care of children

with cancer and their families. Their primary focus is the comfort of the children. The event

organizers also have the responsibility of creating awareness about the event to the public. On

the other hand, the government has a role to play in providing a friendly environment for the

event. It provides security to the event organizer in the preparation stage and during the event.

The government also regulates the operation and ensures resources collected are used for the

intended purpose. In case of suspicious activities, the government can intervene and prosecute

suspects.

The general public is another important stakeholder in the event. The public is the main provider

of funds for the event. The event also aims at attacking the public and change their attitude

towards cancer. However, the general public is very diverse and needs to be handled well. There

is a section of the public that understands and supports efforts by the event organizer. On the

other hand, there is a section that is not aware of the needs of children with cancer. Proper

management of the general public is required to get the greatest benefit from them.

Analysis of the Website Strategies

The website gives a history of events that happened since the launch of the event. This brief

history helps provide a picture to the reader on how the event has progressed (Hair for Hope

2019). It helps one to gauge the impact it has on childhood cancer. It helps one to appreciate the

efforts that have been put in place by the event organizer and other stakeholders. In 2017 the

event gets the highest donation of $ 4.326 million showing that people were appreciating the

event. The event defined childhood cancer and outlines the social and emotional impact on the

children. That information is important to create awareness about the needs of children with

cancer. It helps to send a message about the problem thus reducing social stigma.

Analysis of Other Online Channels and Tactics

There are other online channels that are used to promote the event. YouTube is one the online

channel promoting the hair for hope event. On the YouTube channel for the event, there is a

video gallery on the activities of the event. That gallery enhances the popularity of the event in

various ways. The channel has about 240 subscribers showing that they have an audience that is

ready to listen to them. The event also has at least two press releases per year that good along

way to increase the popularity of the event. The releases are a way for the event organizer to

communicate their plans to the general public. The last online channel for the event is online

articles that explain the importance of shaving to support the children. It also outlines how funds

raised in the event is used.

Section B Strategic Recommendations Based on the Above Analysis

The idea of using saving as a way to raise funds and reduce social stigma about cancer is very

good. Cancer continues to be a big threat to the lives thus there is a need to involve the

government in the initiative. The government has huge state machinery that can help to

effectively promote the event and get more funding. The government will embrace the initiative

because it is within its social responsibility to ensure equality for all. Thus, the government will

offer a helping hand without much problem.

Online communication has greatly improved and many people have access to the internet (Smith,

Lang, Zhang and Huitema, 2019). The event organizer needs to promote themselves on social

media platforms to get higher recognition. The platforms have a huge audience that will enhance

the image of the event. Once a topic is trending is likely to reach almost everybody around the

globe.
