For others, childhood is the best part of life – that one

unforgettable moment.
But when you asked some who knows the corner of the street,
or those who already spent their lives along sidewalks, under
the bridge, and even on old jeepneys converted into home – it’s
a nightmare, for them.
Angeles City Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. knows the
consequences of living in the street. Day and night, rain or
shine, you have to keep going.
Homeless got no choice but to strive harder so that one day,
you will not spend your everyday life counting the days how
long night would be cold, how many days you have to bear just
to survive.
But then again, the hope is still there.
Mayor Lazatin had tasked the City Social Welfare and
Development Office (CSWDO), led by Edna Duaso, and Angeles
City Barangay Outreach, headed by Michael Lising, to conduct a
reach-out and rescue operation of street children and families
in Angeles City.
The Mayor had dialogues with Tuloy Foundation Inc., and
Bahay Pag-asa so that children who were search, rescued and
undergone from an interview will be referred to them.
Children and families who were living in the street then would
be taken care of – would be home.

A total of 114 street children were rescued by the Angeles City

Government – 10 of them were minors (2 were badjaos); also
17 families whom 7 families were badjao root; and 10 adults.
These people, may it be Angelenos or not, were given help by
the Lazatin administration.
Some of the badjao families were assisted to come back on
their place such as in Zamboanga Del Sur, and Sulu.
To date, the reach-out individuals, families, children, and
minors were being monitored.
The Mayor wants to assure the safety, welfare and home of
these rescued people.
