Associate Dean’s Welcome

Welcome to the MBA Programme at the Suleman Dawood School of Business

(SDSB). Offered since the inception of the University in 1986, MBA is the
flagship programme of the University. The Programme has produced more
than three thousand graduates, placed both locally and internationally, being
the most sought after MBA Programme in the country.

The SDSB faculty has not only dedicated top tier researchers and academicians,
but also individuals with real life industry experience. This amalgamation of
business theory and practice is also reflected in our teaching pedagogy, the
Case Method. Combining practicality with a functional approach to learning,
students of the MBA Programme are exposed to real life challenges from day
one. This practical orientation in leadership and entrepreneurship in the context
of a global economy has made our graduates a prime choice of employers.

Competency and Professional Development Modules have been especially

designed to build on the soft skills of the graduates. A series of guest speaker
sessions from the industry and academia provide viable networking opportunities
to the students and add to the diversity and richness of the programme. Various
student centric societies on management provide leadership roles to students
and allow them to come up with innovative methods of learning.

A close linkage with various research centres of SDSB ensures a relevant and
up to date curriculum. Courses on entrepreneurship, social enterprises, SME
industries, agriculture etc. add diversity to the electives. Local cases written
by our own faculty, as well as the use of international cases provide a local
grounding with a global perspective to graduates.

We treasure diversity on the campus. International students are represented

from China, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Central Asian countries. Various student
exchange programmes provide international exposure to graduates. International
linkages in research and academia as well as various international competitions
add to the students’ international exposure.

We have a strong alumni presence throughout the region. They prove to be

a commendable illustration of what our graduates have been able to achieve.
Through their constant support in the guest speaker sessions as well as linkages
with the industry, they are offered an opportunity to give back to their alma
mater while partaking in the exemplary research being carried out by the
faculty.

MBA at LUMS provides tremendous career and professional development

opportunities. Review the following pages to see if it is the best fit for you.

' The method of learning here, the Case Method, is more advantageous than the
conventional learning method because every day and in every session, students are
challenged and are prepared to come face to face with solving real life problems and
see for themselves what possible implications their method of solving could bring to
their organization. This repeated experience of seeing how efficiently one can come
