And also community-based program
design is a social method for
designing programs that enables
social service providers, organizers,
designers and evaluators to serve
specific communities in their own
environment. This program design
method depends on the participatory
approach of community development
often associated with
community-based social work, and is
often employed by community
organizations. From this approach,
program designers assess the needs
and resources existing within a
community, and, involving community
stakeholders in the process, attempt
to create a sustainable and equitable
solution to address the community's
needs. “So we need to plan it first and do
it carefully ma’am?”
“So class do you know the different “Yes ma’am, one is rural community”
types of community?”
“Second is urban community”
“Excellent class.”
“Who among you have an idea of what “Urban community means living in
are definitions of urban, rural and the city. People who live in urban
suburban?” communities live in the city or big
town.
“Very good! What about the rural and “A Rural community is set outside of
suburban?” the city and towns. Rural communities
are often farm lands. While the
suburban communities are usually
close to, but not in, cities. There are
fewer people than in urban
communities, but many more than in
rural communities.”
Group yourself by five members and share your ideas about your
understanding of community extension and services.
