(checking of attendance) ( student raise their hand and say

present as the teacher calls in their
…say present… name)
“ please pick up the pieces of paper ( student pick up the pieces of paper)
under your chair”

“So how was your weekend?”

“It was great ma’am!”

“That’s good!”

“Class do you want to extend your

hand to the community?” “ yes ma’am”

“ its nice to hear that”

“ so now I will going to discuss about

community and extension services”

“Do you have any idea?”

“Ma’am is that helping the
community?”

“Yes, it is!”

“ community and extension services

have the aims and objectives” “What are they ma’am?”

“The aims of CES are to organize and

implement opportunities for the
associates and students through
community outreach activity. The
objective are:

 Equip adults, youth and children

of the community with
competencies for organizing,
leading and managing.

 Provide adequate knowledge

through seminars/ training to the
partner schools for them to
improve their teaching skills,
values and strengthen family
relationship.
“It means CES give the opportunities
to the student like us, to extend our
hand and also to apply what we’ve
learn in the school ma’am?”
“ yes, it is”

“And also class, the CES is the office

that implements the community
development and outreach program of
the university and as a primary
service component of triad mission of
the land-grand university.”
“It is necessary ma’am to conduct
CES?”

“ yes, it is necessary”

“Extension should play an important

role in providing leadership,
partnership and opportunities for
service learning initiative with in the
land grand system.”
“What is the meaning of service
learning ma’am?”
“Service learning is a
teaching/learning method connecting
meaningful community service with
academic learning, personal growth,
and civic responsibility.”
“ okay ma’am”

“ as a method of educational and

information delivery, the service
learning model emphasizes that
clients and students learn and
develop through active participation in
thoughtfully and organized
experiences that meet actual
community needs and that are
coordinated in on-going collaboration
with school or institution and the “The school and community ma’am
community.” will collaborate for the community?”

“ yes”

“Do you know who is the one wrote

that action directed toward the welfare
of others stimulate academic and
social development?”
“ no, ma’am”

“ it is John Dewey”

“How about use the term project

method?”
“Kilpatrick ma’am?”

“Yes, he is. William Heard Kilpatrick

used the word project method.

“Very good!”

“Let’s proceed to community service

letter.”

“A community service letter is a

document which verifies that some
kind of community service was
provided by an individual. It is usually
issued by the charitable organization
or any similar organization. A
community service template should
contain all the information about the
service which was provided by the
person: When the service was done
Where the service was done How
many hours the person did work The
nature of the work The duties and
responsibilities handled by the
person.” “Ma’am is it important to give a
letter before we are going to conduct
this activity? “

“Yes, it is!”
And also community-based program
design is a social method for
designing programs that enables
social service providers, organizers,
designers and evaluators to serve
specific communities in their own
environment. This program design
method depends on the participatory
approach of community development
often associated with
community-based social work, and is
often employed by community
organizations. From this approach,
program designers assess the needs
and resources existing within a
community, and, involving community
stakeholders in the process, attempt
to create a sustainable and equitable
solution to address the community's
needs. “So we need to plan it first and do
it carefully ma’am?”

“Yes, we need to because having this

program design it can develop our
community.”

“So class do you know the different “Yes ma’am, one is rural community”
types of community?”
“Second is urban community”

“Third is suburban or suburbs”

“Excellent class.”

“Who among you have an idea of what “Urban community means living in
are definitions of urban, rural and the city. People who live in urban
suburban?” communities live in the city or big
town.

“Very good! What about the rural and “A Rural community is set outside of
suburban?” the city and towns. Rural communities
are often farm lands. While the
suburban communities are usually
close to, but not in, cities. There are
fewer people than in urban
communities, but many more than in
rural communities.”

“Very good! Keep up the good work;

just keep on studying all the time.”

“So, we have running out of time,

tomorrow we have a short quiz about
CES. But you need to take down first
this assignment. “
