Fried Chicken Tacos

Fried Chicken Tacos have become Mexicans’ favourite weeknight dinner. These are
easy, spicy and boy super tasty! This is a ridiculously easy taco recipe that can
please everyone’s taste buds. These are ready in less than 30 minutes, so I’m sure
this will be one of your ultimate recipe for a quick dinner. This dish is so complete that
in Mexico the fried tacos are served plain on a plate since there is no room for more food
– although if you want to.

To make the fried tacos many steps have to be followed, that are divided in different
stages to make the elaboration easier. Prepare homemade corn tortillas and give an
unbeatable flavour to your tacos. In this recipe the tacos are fried in oil and the olive oil is
not good for frying. For this reason use a vegetable oil. The dish is garnished with red
onion because it gives more flavour to the tacos, use it you will like it.The total preparation
time of this recipe is of 40 minutes. The recipe is for 10 fried tacos.

Ingredients used in this recipe

 2 Chicken Breasts (14.1 oz)


 10 Corn Tortillas (7 oz)
 1 Avocado (8.8 oz)
 1 Tomato (7 oz)
 1/4 of a Lettuce (3.5 oz)
 1/2 Red Onion (2.6 oz)
 1/2 White Onion (2.6 oz)
 1 Garlic clove (.1 oz)
 1/2 cup of Mexican Cream (4.2 fl oz)
 1/4 cup of crumbled Fresh Cheese (1.4 oz)
 1 cup of Vegetable Oil (8.4 fl oz)
 1/2 tablespoon of Salt

 Cookware

 1 Saucepan with Lid

Cookware
 1 Saucepan with Lid 1 Frying Pan
 1 Griddle
 1 Large Plate
 1 Chopping Board
 1 Tongs
 1 Kitchen Spoon
 1 Knife
 10 Toothpicks
 4 Paper Towels

Preparation of this recipe

Cook the Chicken


1. Clean 2 chicken breasts and put them in a saucepan.
2. Also add in the saucepan:
 1/2 Onion.
 1 Garlic clove.
 The enough Water to cover the chicken breasts.
 1/2 tablespoon of Salt.
3. Bring the saucepan water to a boil over high heat.
4. When it boils cover the saucepan and leave the chicken cooking in the boiling
water for about 20 minutes, until it is well cooked.
While the chicken is ready
1. Slice 1 tomato, then reserve.
2. Cut 1/4 of a lettuce into strips and reserve.
3. Finely chop 1/2 red onion, then set aside.
4. Verify that the chicken that was left cooking is well cooked, its color must be white outside
and inside; if not cook it for a longer time.
5. Take from the saucepan the chicken breasts, with a kitchen spoon, wait until they cool a
little and shred them; then set aside.
Work with the tortillas
1. Heat on a griddle over medium heat 10 maize tortillas for approximately 1 minute per
each side, until they are soft.
2. Remove from the griddle the tortillas and put on each one some of the chicken that was
shredded.
3. Roll all the tortillas as tacos and close them with some toothpicks; then set aside.

Make the Fried Tacos

1. Pour in a frying pan approximately 1 cup of vegetable oil, so you end up having about a
1/2’’ deep oil layer.
2. Heat the frying pan oil over high heat.
3. Put in the frying pan the chicken tacos that were prepared (just the ones that fit in) and fry
them for about 2 minutes starting from the end where the tortilla was closed, until they
are moderately fried; turn them regularly with some tongs.
4. Transfer from the frying pan to some paper towels, with the tongs, the fried chicken tacos
that were prepared, so they dry and the fat excess is absorbed.
5. Remove from the fried chicken tacos the toothpicks, then reserve.
6. Repeat the same procedure with the chicken tacos that were not fried, it won’t be
necessary to add more vegetable oil in the frying pan.

Garnish the Fried Tacos

1. Cut 1 avocado into strips, then set aside.


2. Transfer from the paper towels to a large plate the fried chicken tacos that were prepared.
3. Put over the fried chicken tacos the following ingredients:
 1/2 cup of Mexican Cream.
 The Red Onion that was minced.
 The Lettuce strips that were cut.
 The Tomato slices that were cut.
 The Avocado strips that were cut.
 Sprinkle 1/4 cup of crumbled Fresh Cheese.

Mexican fried chicken tacos are very much delicious and make your dinner time joyful.
These tacos are also popularly known as “flautas" (flutes). Also put to your tacos green
salsa or red salsa – the salsas always give freshness and very good flavor.Try the fried
tacos with another filling – chorizo with potatoes.
