Sagra della Salsiccia in Caccamo (PA), Sunday 13

October 2019. The Sausage Festival takes place in one
of the most beautiful medieval villages in Sicily. At the
foot of its majestic castle in the streets of the historic
center you can rediscover the old flavors of Sicilian
gastronomy and in particular the delicious
Caccamese sausage in all its forms, to be tasted fresh
on the grill or seasoned. A triumph of flavors, smells
and sounds will accompany you throughout the day,
tastings in one of the most beautiful medieval villages
of Sicily.
At the foot of Mount Eurako or San Calogero,
Caccamo rises majestically on a hill 520 meters above
sea level in the lower stretch of the San Leonardo
river valley today Lago Rosamarina. Rich in churches,
monuments and works of art it can worthily be
considered a city of art and culture. Some
interpretations would like the term Caccamo deriving
from the Punic-Carthaginian "Caccabe"; (horse's
head, present in the coat of arms), from the Greek
"Kakkabe"; (partridge) or "Kakabe"; (cauldron), from
the Latin "Cacabus"; (big pot), from the Arabic
"Kùkum"; (pot, muffler), from the Sicilian "Caccamu"
(lotus tree)
