This month we will be reading
Sarah, Plain and Tall.

We will read daily during our reading


workshop for 45 minutes with some time
for reflection.

This book is a beloved Newberry Medal


winning book, awarded for being the most
distinguished contribution to children’s
literature during the preceding year of
punishment. Sarah, Plain and Tall is a
historical fiction, with themes of
abandonment, loss and love.

While we will be reading this book in


class, I encourage extra copies, as this is
a book that students will want to continue
exploring. Here are places to consider:
