Applications that are encouraged are:
Inference Clues- this helps students practice
drawing conclusions based on clues in text
Epic-this is a great app in general the first 30 days
are free after is a small fee but includes a ton of
reading options including books and comics
Quizlet- we will use this to familarize ourselves with
vocabulary in the book, as well as play games
This month we will be reading
Sarah, Plain and Tall.
We will read daily during our reading
workshop for 45 minutes with some time
for reflection.
This book is a beloved Newberry Medal
winning book, awarded for being the most
distinguished contribution to children’s
literature during the preceding year of
punishment. Sarah, Plain and Tall is a
historical fiction, with themes of
abandonment, loss and love.
While we will be reading this book in
class, I encourage extra copies, as this is
a book that students will want to continue
exploring. Here are places to consider:
