Conduct Competency Assessment

Conduct Competency Assessment covers competence required to conduct


National Assessment. It details the requirements for organizing assessment
activities, preparing the candidate, gathering and evaluating evidence, making
assessment decision, recording and providing feedback on assessment
outcome.

This self-paced course is part of the cluster Trainers Methodology I - Conduct


Competency Assessment.
At the end of the presentation, submit the following:
Brown envelope with:
1. Rating Sheets
2. CARS
3. Attendance Sheet
At the beginning, ask candidates what their mode of understanding is.
Talk to them in their preferred language throughout the assessment.
1) AS AN ASSESSOR ESTABLISH THE CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF
ASSESSMENT
 The Assesor- must familiarize self w/ the qualification or unit of
competencies to be assessed.
 Ensure that the assessment site complies w/ the relevant occupational
health and safety requirements
 Ensure that the assessment resources are available
 The assessor must ensure that the tool, equipment, and facilities are ready
and available in the assessment site before the assessment starts
 I have a check list of tools, equipment and facilities must be on hand to help
the assessor monitor the availability and completeness of the the tools,
equipment and facilities which is available in the assessors guide

2) PLAN AND PREPARE THE EVIDENCE GATHERING PROCESS


 1 COPY OF THE ASSESSORS GUIDE
 Specific Instruction to the Candidate
 Competency Assessment Results Summary
 Written Report - Essay
 Written Test - Multiple choice or True or False
 Answers Sheet
 Rating Sheets according to the Number of Candidate

4) Conduct Orientation
 I would like to welcome all of you to our AC for Cookery NC2, this assessment
is to determine the level of your competency.
 Qualification or Units of competency to be assessed are the BASIC, COMMON
and the CORE Competencies
5) TASK TO BE PERFORMED AND EVIDENT TO BE COLLECTED
 I will collect evidence through Demonstration, oral questioning and written
test. This assessment method can help measure your underpinning
knowledge and skills.

6) PERSONAL NEEDS
 For your personal needs the comfort room is located at the end of the hallway.
 If you want to take your meal, we have a canteen outside the assessment
center
 However during the assessment you are not allowed to leave the premises of
the assessment center.

7) ALLOWABLE OR REASONABLE ADJUSTMENT WHEN APPLICABLE


 If you have difficulty in understanding the given instruction please don’t
hesitate to call my attention because I am willing to explain and translate it
for you

8) DO’S AND DONTS DURING ASSESSMENT


 If you have concerns, questions and there’s a need for you to clarify the
matter concerning the assessment you may asked for I am willing to assist
you. But once the assessment started please refrain from asking questions
co it is no longer allowed

9) Rights and Appeal system


 In case you have any question regarding the assessment result you have the
right to appeal, you can submit your appeal to the TESDA PRovinacial Office
where the assessment center and the assessor are accredited.

10) ISSUANCE OF NC/COC


 If you have passed the assessment and you are competent, For the issuance
of National Certificate you can claim it at the Provincial Office after 5 working
days
.
11) REASSESSMENT PROCEDURE
 If found not competent- don’t worry about it you can be reassessed anytime
at your own convenience.
 In case the reassessment is full qualification you have to undergo the whole
assessment process.
 If found to be competent in some unit of competencies the reassessment will
just focused on the unit of competencies that you are found to be NOT YET
COMPETENT
 IF you fail 2 consecutive assessment, you are advised to take a refresher
course before applying for reassessment.

12)OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS


 For OSHS ,Kindly observed proper knife handling. If in case accident occur
please call my attention right away so that proper first aid will be
administered. In case you need a first aid, we have a first aide cabinet at the
right side of the hallway

13)CONFIDENTIALITY OF ASSESSMENT OUTCOMES


 With the result of your assessment,we observe strict confidentiality this is to
ensure your integrity , this result is only made available to the right personnel
and to the institution were had your actual training.
 In relation to this , the assessment package is placed in the secured place, to
guarantee the integrity of the assessment package.
 Please do away from giving any form of information that took place in the
assessment process.

14) PROVIDE EACH CANDIDATE OF A COPY OF “SPECIFIC INSTRUCTION


TO THE CANDIDATE”

 If you don’t have any questions or clarification, then I am going to give you a
copy of “Specific Instruction@ please read them carefully you have questions,
please asked it now. I maybe able to translate it to English to your local
dialect. If you need assistance, I will be more than willing to assist you.

15)ASSIGN NUMBERS TO THE CANDIDATE.


 YOU ARE CANDIDATE 1, CANDIDATE 2, .. CANDIDATE1 PLEASE PROCEED
TO THE ASSESSMENT AREA WHILE OTHER CANDIDATES YOU MAY STAY
HERE.

16)COLLECT THE EVIDENCE AND MAKE THE ASSESSMENT DECISION


 To stimulate the assessment process, 2 candidates will be shown performing
the same task. 1 candidate will represent being competent while the other is
not yet competent.
 C1 this is you assessment area , were you are going to perform - cutting the
whole chicken.
 HAve you read the “ Specific Instruction once more”. Do you have any
questions, you may asked it now. When assessment starts , you can no
longer asked. Please be informed after the demonstration there will be oral
questioning.
 Ok you may begin.
Note do the same to C2.
Note:
 Conduct assessment in accordance w/methodologies specified in the
Evidence Plan and the Specific Instruction for the Competency Assessor
 Implement the evidence gathering process and ensure its validity, reliability,
fairness and flexibility
 Observe the candidate and keep notes of the candidates performance during
the entire conduct of the assessment
 This note will be used for the provision of feedback to the candidates
performance.
 Collect appropriate evidence and match compatibility to the elements,
performance criteria, range of variables and evidence guide in the relevant
unit of competency
 Judge the evidence in terms of the dimension of competency, task skills, task
management skills, contingency management skills and job or role
environment skills
 Judge the evidence in terms of validity, consistency, currency, authenticity
and sufficiency.

17) After the demonstration, will proceed to oral questioning.


18) Record on Rating Sheet details of evidence collected and judgement
made about the candidates performance.
