Purpose of graphic card

for displaying high-quality graphics at a high rate of speed

processes the mathematical operations necessary to speedy display images and videos. It
typically contains dedicated random access memory, or RAM, chips used to store data related to
visual media and a specialized processor chip called a graphics processing unit, or the GPU,
which is optimized for dealing with video.

There are two kinds of GPU:

1. Internal/Integrated Graphics
2. Dedicated Graphics
The Integrated Graphics Processor like all Intel's GPU are power efficient processor
i.e. they are optimised to do the graphical calculation with least power consumption.
This also means they can't do much when complex graphics calculation are to be
done.

There comes Dedicated GPUs. These are power hungry high performance processors.
If you decide to do a graphical intensive work in your laptop, the application can be
worked with using the Dedicated Graphics, thus making your work faster &
smoother.
