In order to complete the task at the PEPE course, namely seeking information about oil and gas from the experts, our group conducted an interview with a geologist named Mr. Adam Zeiza, he is an Integrated Geoscientist and Geologic Modeller with more than 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with ExxonMobil and BP, include 6+ years Geomodeling experience. He is also the Geologic Modeller for the Banyu Urip and Kedung Keris carbonate fields, East Java, Indonesia. Banyu Urip and Kedung Keris are in the Cepu Block, Central Java. Banyu Urip and Kedung Keris are carbonate fields. Kedung Keris Field is approximately 10 km from Banyu Urip Field. Banyu Urip and Kedung Keris fields have known petroleum systems, especially banyu urip. The Petroleum system in Banyu Urip Field and Kedung Keris Field has many similarities, starting from the source rock - it is Lacustrine source rock that is Eocene (33.9 - 56 million years old), formed during rifting and the formation is Nimbang Formation. The reservoir of both fields is the kujung formation which is an Oligocene Carbonate (23-33.9 million years). The shape of this kujung formation is an isolated carbonate platform. Caprock in the Banyu Urip field is a Tortonian (7.2-11.6 million years old) shale with a ngrayong formation, while in the second field the caprock kedung keris field is younger than the banyu urip field. Caprock on the banyu urip field is better known as Tortonian Seal. The trap itself is a combination of stratigraphic trap and structural trap. Migration from True Time oil and gas. True Time Migration because the carbonate layer has been formed, after the carbonate has formed migration from oil and gas just happened. Migration occurs at around the age of Miocene (5.3-23 million years) or Pliocene (3.6 - 5.3 million years). The basin in these two fields is the North East Java Basin that has an Eocene age (33.9-56 million years). Reason why the geologist choose the reservoir is because the reservoir has a big geometry, the distance to source rock can still be migrated, and the reservoir has completed petroleum system. Requirements for reservoir formation: 1. The reservoir has a source rock It refers to rocks from which hydrocarbons have been generated or are capable of being generated. 2. The reservoir has a reservoir rock (it has porosity and permeability). The porosity and permeability of rocks is important in determining which rocks will make a good reservoir. A rock that is both porous and permeable would make a good reservoir rock as it allows oil and gas to move up through the pores in the rock closer to the surface where it can be extracted. The greater the permeability , the easier it is to extract oil from the rock. 3. It has a Trap Rock serves as a barrier or a trap for fluid migrating can stop or not migrate the fluid. 4. It has a caprock 5. The existence of migration path The conclusion is reservoirs that our geologists have chosen (banyu urip) are good reservoir rock because it has complete petroleum system, has a good porous, permeable, and contains Hydrocarbon as well. Sandstone and Limestone are two sedimentary rocks which are used as a reservoir rock. And kedung keris has been chosen because it's near banyu urip, they use the facilities of banyu urip reservoir and just migrate the petroleum with the pipes.
