Realism and idealism are limited and ineffective when separated, but can
become a powerful tool when combined . An idealistic vision keeps us inspired
and motivated to continue our work. It is obviously more encouraging when we
are working toward creating something rewarding or extraordinary than
working on a small and simple project. A realistic vision comes into play to
determine the possibility of achieving the goal; it helps to determine whether
the goal is obtainable or worth investing time and commitment for. One of the
most effective ways to incorporate the two visions is “to start with optimism
and then to move quickly on to how to execute against that aspiration” . An
effective goal is the one which is ambitious but obtainable with the individual’s
capability. The plan for reaching the goal should be realistic and drawn out
clearly. If there are difficulties planning the initial steps, then they need serious
considerations on whether they should continue or move onto another goal.
Having a well-planned goal will increase the success rate as well as reduce the
risk of wasting time and resources.

Realism helps individuals to keep in check with reality and determine the
possibility of target goals.

Schools and parents have the most influence over young people. Through
education and parenting advice, those youths learn and develop their
knowledge and visions. School and parents should encourage young people to
choose their career goals by incorporating both idealistic and realistic visions.
A study conducted by the Social Exclusions Taskforce indicated that young
people who develop ambitious and achievable visions, along with confidence
and diligence, are more likely to achieve more career success. It is important
that the youths are encouraged to develop both idealistic and realistic visions.

An idealistic goal can help change the world for the better, but it should be
approached realistically in terms of the possibility of completion and
capabilities of those working on it. It is necessary to keep a balance of the two
visions, as both are equally important toward a successful career. Without one
another, the two visions will either lead to failures or restrain individuals from
advancing in their careers.

its a decision of one's own perception.

idealism is the group of philosophies which assert that reality, or reality

as we can know it, is fundamentally mental, mentally constructed, or
otherwise immaterial.

a manner of treating subject matter that presents a careful description of

everyday life,is REALISM.

for me REALISM is much better.

let take an example of physics , We study all concepts by assuming that we are
dealing in an ideal enviornment and NEGLECTING all the things which can
reduce your efficiency ,HENCE we come out with some concepts ,i.e,
IDEALISM.

But in reality ,we apply these concepts and cannot NEGLECT what we were
taught to ,our efficiency drops down to 20%,i.e REALISM.

Yeah , i strongly feel that IDEALISM sets a foundation of REALISM but on the
same pitch i state that if you are lacking quality to face reality , I am afraid you
will never get what you want to.

John Sew, my watch has ended

Both have their own places.

Let me give an example.

I want to get to my destinations fast. I wish I could travel to Europe in the blink
of an eye, without having to spend countless hours in the airports and on the
plane. God, sleeping in planes is so uncomfortable. I wish it was faster. How
cool would it be if I could get there in the blink of an eye? This is idealism.

But if I really want to get to Europe faster, I’ll have to work today to make the
planes faster. I’ll have to work to make improvements in the current technology
in the hope that one day I’ll be able to get there in fewer hours,...(more)

Well I'm in support of realism.

First I will like to explain what I mean by realism -

Realism is taking the action or judging the situation in agreement with the
reality.

Now I would tell what idealism means for me-

Idealism is like taking decisions about the situation even before you get into
the situation.

The only problem with idealism is that unfortunately or fortunately which ever
you want, we can't predict the future.

Many times in life things behave differently than what we have thought. So our
course of action should be according to the situation. Priorities should be set
at that point. I...(more)
