Chapter I

 Introduction

In todays generation our technology is very high-tech so they did a system that

is useful and accessible to the students when it comes on studying. The use of Learning

Management System (LMS) has grown considerably in Universities around the world. A

Learning Management System (LMS) provides an instructor with a way to create and

deliver content, monitor student particular, and asses students performance, it is a

software platform for delivering learning material online. Purpose of this system is to

enable teachers and students access the study materials at anytime and anywhere.

Many higher institutions have implemented a Learning Management System (LMS) to

manage online learning and technology, with varying levels of support provided to staff

or the use of made of the support structures provided. (Australian Journal of education

technology 24 (1) 2008)

 Background of the study

Learning management system (LMS) allow communication and interaction

between teachers and students in virtual spaces. Nowadays, there are a lot of online

education systems all over the world. The main purpose of those systems is to provide a

better and effective way to help students to get learning materials and information. A web

base learning management system also known as e-learning management system will

be developed for secondary school.

The first LMS appeared in the nineties, along with the first web browsers. According

to (Silva (2013), Learning Management Systems are often criticized, due to the belief that

these technologies simply virtualize non-virtual classrooms. However, according to the

author, they are not the main problem, but the way they are designed, structured and

crafted. Furthermore, the use of an LMS requires careful studies particularly in relation to

educational and financial aspects.

If the learning management system will developed and has easy to access predominantly

maybe it is the start of improving the quality of our life through technology, not only in

working industry but also in our education.

 Theoritical Background

 Statement of the Problem

1. Which do you think maximize more your learning, with LMS or none?

2. What is the difference between the student using LMS and to the student doesn't use

LMS?

3. What are the hindrances that makes LMS ineffective?

 Scope and Limitation

 Definition of Terms

 Hypothesis

 Significance of the study

a. Schools - the result of the study will help teachers know if the LMS is more effective

and when it comes to study and they will know if using LMS can improve the study

habit of a student's.

b. Teachers - this study will help teachers know what is the effective in learning if the

former style of learning or with the using of LMS they can observe it and have a

comparison.

c. Srudents - his study will help the students to know which is more easier to use on

learning and if it accessible to use LMS.

d. Future Researchers - the study presented may used as reference data in

conducting new researchers or testing other related findings. The study will serve

as a reference that will give the new researchers a background if using LMS is

effective learning and if they can improve the academic performance of the

student.

Introducing a Learning Management System at a Russian University: Students’ and

Teachers’ Perceptions – February 2014

According to Natalya Emelyanova and Elena Voronina, Learning management systems

(LMS) have been proven to encourage a constructive approach to knowledge acquisition

and support active learning. One of the keys to successful and efficient use of LMS is

how the stakeholders adopt and perceive this learning tool. The present research is

therefore motivated by the importance of understanding teachers’ and students’

perceptions of LMS in order to anticipate possible issues (problems) and help to build a

productive learning environment and a committed user community. The paper looks at

this process at a Russian university (National Research University Higher School of

Economics – HSE) where the system is being implemented and examines the following

issues: qualification and readiness of the stakeholders to use LMS and their perceptions

of the system’s convenience, effectiveness, and usefulness. The research reveals

remarkable divergence of students’ and teachers’ perceptions of various aspects of LMS

which must be considered when raising the effectiveness of the system and building

commitment to e-learning. They are analyzed and explicated in the present paper.

Learning Management System Usage – Quarterly Review of Distance Education

17(2), 41-50, 2016

According to Darrell S. Walker, James R. Linder, Theresa Pesl Murphry, Kim Dooley the

author of “Quarterly Review of Distance Education”, As online teaching and learning has

become a normal educational delivery method, universities have been challenged with

selecting a learning management system (LMS) that meets instructors’ and the

institutions’ needs and requirements. This qualitative study focused on faculty perceptions

of features in a newly adopted LMS. Feature themes that emerged included both positive

and negative attitudes related to gradebook, assessment tools, course materials,

communication tools, interface, administration of classes, and student engagement.

While positive attitudes to the new LMS features validate the selection, the negative

attitudes highlight challenges that should be addressed in the future to insure widespread

diffusion and acceptance. (https://scholar.google.com/)

Chapter 3 – Methods and Procedure

 Research Design

The researchers used a Comparative Analysis Design to compare the study with

LMS and without LMS. Comparative research is not restricted to the statistical

analysis of two variables but extends to analyzing how various variables or groups

change under the influence of the same changes.

 Sampling

 Research Instrument

The researcher will be using survey questions in G-Form. The researcher chose the

survey type of question in G-Form because the researcher will provide the link of the

survey and the respondents will simply answer the questions by tapping or clicking

their desired answer on their own device or the device provided by the researcher.

 Data Gathering

In the conduct of the study, the researchers were allowed the students of UPHSD

1st year and 2nd year of BSHM and BSTM to read and answer the needed data.

Before answering the given survey questionnaire, the researchers explained the

purpose of the study to the respondents and then they made sure each participant

corresponds to their predefined criteria. The researchers collected the data by

means of survey questionnaire that comprises their year level and course. After the

respondents have taken the survey, the papers were checked, tallied, interpreted

and analyzed.

 Statistic Treatment

To answer the problem in this study, the statistic tool used in analyzing the data

collected is the summarize result of the responses from the G-form. On this tool the

result and the graph was perform by the www.docs.google.com.
