A. Purpose – To minimize the risk of accident/hazard/fatality during Pinion Shaft Assembly

Replacement of Ball Mill
B. Scope – Pinion Shaft Assembly Replacement of Ball Mill
C. Competency Skill and Knowledge
 VTC Trained fitter, welder, helper with ITI or 4 years of experience
D. Safety Requirements:
 Wear suitable PPE (Helmet , Goggles, Dust mask, Hand gloves, Safety Belt and Safety
Shoe)
E. Generals Rules
 Mobile use is prohibited on site.

A. Activities : Pinion Shaft Assembly Replacement of Ball Mill

1. Take the Work Permit & Power Shut down of Ball Mill & follow LOTOTO system.
2. Remove the girth gear guard & Low speed coupling guard.
3. Remove the Low speed coupling bolt.
4. Open the Plummer block bolt & then Plummer block cover.
5. Lift the pinion shaft assembly using sling with help of crane.
6. Now, put the pinion shaft at designated place.
7. Now, lift the new pinion shaft and fit in plummer block.
8. Now, adjust the bearing clearance & apply lubricant.
9. Now, fix the bearing Plummer block cover.
10. Now, the alignment of pinion shaft with gear box output shaft.
11. Now, apply the lubricant in both pinion shaft & gear box shaft coupling teeth.
12. Couple the gear coupling with bolt.
13. Now, fix the coupling guard & girth gear guard.
14. Now, clear the power shut-down.
