1. The problem can be restated as x −10 = 6. We use the number
line to solve it.

Answer: 4 and 16

2. The solutions of x − 6 = 10 are -4 and 16. The solutions of


x + 6 = 10 are -16 and 4. Hence, (−4) + 16 + (−16) + 4 = 0.
Answer: 0

3. Answer:
A and B are wrong. We use the LCD of the fractions to add or
subtract them.
C, D, and E are correct.

4. We simplify the numbers as − 100 = −10 and −100 = 10i.
We can plot -10 on a number line but not 10i because 10i is

array has a middlemost number and that is 14. So, we multiply
25 and 14 to get the sum of the 25 numbers quickly.

Answer: 3 + 5 + 2 ends in 0.

8. We need to multiply 3 to 132 only, instead of the whole number.
