OBJECT:
To investigate the conservation of energy for an object sliding down a slope.
FORMULA:
Adjust the slope so that the horizontal section is about 20 to 25 cm above the
table. And measure the height (in m)
Calculate velocity of the object at each point by dividing the distance of the object
(in meters) by the time in seconds.
Use a balance to find the mass of the object (in kg).
Use PE = mgh (where m is the mass of the object in kg, g is acceleration due to
gravity, and h is the height of the object placed, Calculate the potential energy of
the at each point.
Use KE = (1/2) mv2 (where m is the object of the ball in kg and v is the velocity of
the object at that point) to calculate the kinetic energy of the object at each point.
Add potential energy and kinetic energy together to get total energy.
