Gait In Relation to

Weight

By Joell Vaca, Joaquin Arellanes, Landon

Antonio, and Nitin Mamidi
Data Collection

● We used the app Physics Toolbox to record our data

● We measured leg length of each group member
● Each test the group member walked 200in
● We attached a G-Force monitor to the legs of each group
member
○ Hip
○ Knee
○ Ankle

Predictive Formula

● Our predictive formula based on our data was:

y=(0.573)x-(24928)

● This wasn’t a very good predictor of weight because it was too

broad
Discoveries

● The heavier a person is, the higher their total G-Force while
walking
○ This is because they have more weight behind their steps

● The same goes for a lighter weight: Since there is less resistance,
a lighter weight would result in a faster swinging of the leg

Lighter Weight
Higher G- Force
Heavier Weight
What Could Have Been Done
Better
● We could have taken more peoples data in order to solidify our
claims
● We could have measured gait against a different variable such as
height
● We could have placed the sensor on different areas of the body
to find more data
Thanks For!
