Importance of geology in construction and prevent the hazards.

When we are talking about geology, we know that it has a big relationship with the
earth and that is why it complements well with civil engineering. It is necessary know
the nature of a geological structure and many elements that compose it in order to
make some civil engineering project.

When I referring to the nature of a structure, I’m talking about a study to know the
conditions in which it is located and see if it is convenient or not to make the project,
depending on what we want to build. The constructions that have been made over
the years, have gone through and inspection on the conditions of the area in which
we want to build with the purpose of avoiding an accident during or after having
made the project.

It is also important know that natural phenomenon such as tsunamis, earthquakes

or landslides, are not posible to avoid and have also caused deformation and even
collapse of some construction causing accidents. Various constructions have been
evolving and have been prepared to support the structure from natural forces and
prevent their collapse.

The rocks are composed of one or more minerals that have great resistance, making
us useful when we are building. It is important know also the types of rocks that exist
and their properties to get to use them in our construction or for finishes.

Civil engineering and geology could not be separated because without geology,
many of the constructions, like dams, could suffer great damage due to not being
able to support the weight of the structure as well as posible permeability.
